Pozycja Anna Libera „Krakowianka”. Narodowość i regionalizm(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Gracz-Chmura, EdytaAnna Libera (1805-1886) is one of the most unique figures of romantic Cracow. She conformed her life to two passions – literature and social activity. She wrote epic works and dramas but she was mainly recognized thanks to poetry inspired by Cracow history and local folklore. The most popular pieces in her output, the so-called ‘krakowiaki’, meaning songs stylized to be like folk songs, refer to romantic nationality and regionalism. In public Libera also realized herself as the first suffragist in Cracow. She put forward her postulates in numerous speeches, appeals and essays, in which she demanded improvement in the lives of women. The majority of Libera’s works have not yet been published and are still in the form of handwritten manuscripts in the Cracow Czartoryski Library.Pozycja Archiwum polonisty: niefotogeniczne bogactwo(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Stanisz, Marek; Ożóg, ZenonEdytorstwo i tekstologia dzieł literackich to dziedziny o ambiwalentnym statusie. Pozycja "Carmen nuptiale" Jana Bielskiego jako przykład jezuickiej twórczości o charakterze okolicznościowym(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Mieszek, MałgorzataThis article discusses the poetic piece by Jan Bielski entitled "Carmen nuptiale" included in his tragedy "Aleksy, cesarz wschodni" ("Alexy, eastern emperor") (Poznań, 1764). This drama was given to Joanna Nepomucena Działyńska and Teodor Koźmiński on the occasion of their wedding. In print there are two parallel versions of the wedding poem: a Latin one directed to Teodor, and a Polish one, addressed to Joanna. Both the occasion for writing the text and placing the poem within the occasional editorial framework of the piece caused that the Jesuit made reference to the rhetorical model of 'laudatio personae' and made use of ready-made ‘praising cliché’ in the creation of the bride. Joanna’s laudation, however, was presented in the attractive form of an epic story. Bielski skillfully combined biographical information with panegyric elements. With his text he became part of a long tradition of adding splendor to important events in the lives of noble families by Jesuits in the former Republic of Poland.Pozycja Dialogi pisarzy młodopolskich z "Lillą Wenedą" Juliusza Słowackiego(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Rusek, Iwona E.This article analyses connections between the romantic idea of spiritual development and modernist search for the truth of existence. The patron of activities directed in this way was Juliusz Słowacki, whose works and life inscribed in artistic-philosophical actions of modernist artists and the text which most fully expressed the analysed issues was the drama entitled “Lilla Weneda”. Modernist writers, for whom the problems of the strength of the character, the will, inner transformation or lack of it, initiated a dialogue with the tragedy by "Balladyna"’s author in their texts (W. Berent “Próchno”, M. Wolska “Swanta”, A. Lange “Wenedzi”, J.A. Kisielewski “Sonata”). This dialogue took place along several lines (fate, symbolism of a ritual, the figure of a priestess, mysterious objects, the figure of the Bride, the idea of wedding, the desire to be reborn). The present analysis has indicated strong semantic-symbolic connections between the text by Juliusz Słowacki and his modernist ‘interlocutors’.Pozycja Konopnicka w kręgu rodzinnym(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Maciąg, KazimierzReview: Maria Konopnicka, "Listy do synów i córek" ("Letters to sons and daughters"), edited and prefaced by Lena Magnone, Warsaw – Institute of Literary Studies at Polish Academy of Sciences; Żarnowiec – Maria Konopnicka Museum, Warsaw 2010, pp. 956. The author presents the history of Maria Konopnicka’s correspondence as well as the history of editing this part of the writer’s output. He shows the content of the reviewed volume including letters to the poet’s children and discusses its structure and editorial principles. The reviewer finds specific features of Konopnicka’s correspondence considering it on the background of epistolography of other writers. The letters of the most popular poet of the second half of the 19th century have their own specificity; seemingly without emotions they hide crucial information about the inner life of their authoress. They are also an irreplaceable source of knowledge of the history of her writing.Pozycja "Kontynenty - Nowy Merkuriusz" (styczeń 1959 - luty 1961)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Moczkodan, RafałThe article is a discussion – mainly from the editorial-programme side – of the history of the fourth mutation of the magazine published in London by a poetic group called “Continents”. In this outline goals set by the changing editorial board are indicated and the difficulties faced while realizing particular plans are discussed. Apart from that changes in the thematic-content structure of the monthly issue have been presented as well as opinions and evaluations given by its readers and members of the editorial board have been cited.Pozycja Korespondencja między Józefem Wittlinem i Romanem Brandstaetterem(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Zajączkowski, RyszardPreserved correspondence between Józef Wittlin and Roman Brandstaetter comprising 27 letters and postcards dated since the end of the 1950s is a testimony of their acquaintance since the middle of the 1920s and also of the epoch they both lived in. In those letters three topics are dominating, namely: exile, Assisi and literature. Wittlin was in New York as a political immigrant without any chance to return to Poland and in the case of Brandstaetter exile meant being on the margin of the writers’ environment and harassment of various sort from the authorities. The author of "Sól ziemi" ("Salt of land") inspired Brandstaetter’s interest in saint Francis of Assisi which later was abundantly reflected in the young writer’s literary output. In their correspondence Assisi often returns as a spiritual enclave against the chaos of the world, a space for moral revival and for happiness. Both writers also knew well and appreciated each other’s literary works. Brandstaetter viewed Wittlin as his literary mentor and confidant in difficult experiences and a judge in moral matters. In turn Wittlin willingly read Brandstaetter’s pieces and praised them because he found something of his own spirit and esthetical inclinations in them.Pozycja Korespondencyjne spotkania Gabrieli z Güntherów Puzyniny i Katarzyny z Lipińskich Lewockiej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Berkan-Jabłońska, MariaThe article presents a set of three letters from Gabriela Puzynina (1815-1869) to (probably) Katarzyna Lewocka (1799-1890), preserved in the manuscript in the PAU and PAN Library in Cracow (ref. 718, k. 581-585). In addition to editing the letters and affixing their footnotes, the sketch also contains a brief overview of the woman authors’ life and work. Also, outlined are the circumstances of their meeting and probable genesis of the letters. Particular attention is devoted to two works of Puzynina, which are discussed in the letters: "Hedwig" - the tragedy published a year after the death of the author, and "The eighteenth century philosopher's daughter", her lost piece. The material is treated not only as a certificate of the nineteenth-century culture, but also broadens the knowledge about interests, aspirations and language specific to women writers of the nineteenth century.Pozycja Krasiński i Mickiewicz – jedna epoka, dwa przeciwne światy(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Tercha, KatarzynaReview: Jerzy Fiećko, „Krasiński przeciw Mickiewiczowi. Najważniejszy spór romantyków” („Krasiński against Mickiewicz. The most important argument among romantics”), Wydawnictwo Poznańskie, Poznań 2011. The review of the book has been divided into two parts. The first part has the title: “Krasiński i Mickiewicz” (“Krasiński and Mickiewicz”) and the second: “Bohaterowie a ich twórcy” (“Heroes and their creators”). The first part presents the ideological conflict between Zygmunt Krasiński and Adam Mickiewicz approached by Fiećko as ‘the most important argument of the romantics’ (attention has been paid to, among others, conflicts over the nation, the issue of Jews and of Russia as well as discussions around the concepts of Messianism and Towiański's movement). The second part of the review discusses the problem in the chapter “Bóg – Historia – Zło” (“God – History – Evil”) and describes the heroes created by Adam Mickiewicz and Zygmunt Krasiński.Pozycja Listy Hugona Kołłątaja do księgarza i wydawcy krakowskiego Jana Maja ze stycznia i lutego 1807 roku(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Nalepa, MarekWhen in December 1802 Hugo Kołłątaj was leaving the prison in Ołomuniec, he had one desire: to settle in a village, most preferably in Krzesławice and take care of his personal matters. Everything indicated that these aspirations might become a reality, although in a slightly modified shape than he had originally planned. This most eminent politician, publicist and reformer of the times of king Stanislaw Poniatowski returned to his homeland Wołyń and there, apart from scientific and educational activity, he made the effort to regain his possessions confiscated by the Austrians. However, soon Europe started boiling. Napoleon with his army began his march towards the East and he reached Wielkopolska. Awakened Polish hopes revived slightly dormant politicians; Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz returned from the USA. In turn republicans and former Jacobins suddenly remembered the vice-chancellor priest. They made attempts to bring him back to Warsaw and they offered him the leadership of the uprising in Wołyń. Anticipating the realization of one of those two scenarios on 10th January 1807 Russian officials forced their entry into Kołłątaj’s flat in Tetylkowce with the emperor’s order of immediate leaving for Moscow. The priest did not resist and in a short time he began an extremely tiresome journey. The letters that we publish here are an account of that journey. The author describes in them his observations and reflections in this remarkable correspondence directed to the bookseller and publisher from Cracow Jan Maj.Pozycja Literatura z pogranicza, czyli o niezwykłości wczesnego romantyzmu(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Kajmowicz, AgnieszkaReview: Monika Stankiewicz-Kopeć, „Pomiędzy klasycznością a romantycznością. Młodzi autorzy Wilna, Krzemieńca i Lwowa wobec przemian w literaturze lat 1817-1828” (“Between classicism and romansticism. Young authors of Vilnius, Krzemieniec and Lvov about changes in literature in years 1817-1828”), Księgarnia Akademicka, Kraków 2009, pp. 320. Monika Stankiewicz-Kopeć in her book discusses the problems of the romantic breakthrough approached from the perspective of the 'minorum gentium' creators. The review of the monograph contains the analysis of the theses included in the book as well as the way of proving them. In the first part main thoughts presented by the researcher have been described, such as emphasis on the multi-current nature of the romantic breakthrough, the analysis of shaping literary awareness in particular environments, a suggestion of periodization. Later contents of consecutive chapters have been presented in a detailed way and evaluated as well as the original approach to problems related to the romantic breakthrough in Poland has been emphasized.Pozycja Międzynarodowa konferencja naukowa „Polonistyka w Europie. Kierunki i perspektywy rozwoju”(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Filip, Grażyna; Patro-Kucab, MagdalenaThe text includes a report on the international scientific conference "Polish Studies in Europe. The Directions and Perspectives of Development" which took place from 14-17 May, 2012, at the Institute of Polish Philology of University of Rzeszów.Pozycja Nieznane juwenilia Kazimierza Wierzyńskiego(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Truszkowski, ArturThis article consists of two parts. One of them is the publication of two unknown so far for the literary discourse early poems by Kazimierz Wierzyński entitled "Śni mi się wiosna" ("I dream of the spring") and "Pójdę, ja pójdę" ("I’ll go, I will go") published in one of the youth magazines in Poznań. The second part of this paper includes a historical outline of the “Filaret” magazine along with the textological analysis of the poems in which the author proves that the first prints of Wierzyński’s pieces published in “Filaret” should be considered as done not by the author. The whole of the article is complemented by the description of modernizations made during the adjustment of the texts of both poems.Pozycja O listach Jana Lechonia i Kazimierza Wierzyńskiego (Kilka uwag na marginesie przygotowania edycji krytycznej)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Dorosz, BeataThis article presents the problems faced by an editor preparing a correspondence dialogue between Jan Lechoń and Kazimierz Wierzyński (237 mainly handwritten letters from 1941-1956) for a critical edition, among others, the issue of completeness, dating, reading of the autograph. It signalizes some of the appearing motifs and problems in the letters, making an initial attempt to interpret them in the context of biographies of both authors and historical events (especially the experiences of emigration). Moreover, it contains seventeen short poetic pieces (poems, epigrams and trifles) by both poets which may be found among other contents on the pages of those letters. They have been read from the handwritten manuscripts and edited and therefore they appear in print for the very first time.Pozycja "Ofelia wędrowna" - bliżej twórczości Marii Komornickiej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Walęciuk-Dejneka, BeataReview: Piotr Odmieniec Włast (Marya Komornicka), „Xięga poezji idyllicznej. Rzeczy Francuskie” (“Book of idyllic poetry. French things”), ed. Barbara Steligowska, transl. Joanna Majewska, Warsaw 2011, pp. 150. The review takes a closer look at the edition of poems left by Piotr Odmieniec Włast or Maria Komornicka edited by Barbara Stelingowska in Warsaw in 2011. “Xięga poezji idyllicznej. Rzeczy francuskie” („Book of idyllic poetry. French things”) collects texts in a foreign language along with translations done by Joanna Majewska. The review contains a short biographical outline of the poet revealing her dramatic life before nervous breakdown and after it. Moreover, it reviews the up-to-now editions of the texts included in the manuscript of “Xięga poezji idyllicznej” and presents the researchers who in the last years studied the life and output of Maria Komornicka. It also shows the edition of the poems on the basis of afterword and translator’s remarks inscribing the publication in the current of studies done from the perspective of feminist and cultural philosophy.Pozycja Otwarcie Centrum Języka i Kultury Polskiej w Uniwersytecie Mateja Bela w Bańskiej Bystrzycy (Słowacja)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Pasterska, JolantaThe text includes a report on the opening ceremony of the Centre of Polish Language and Culture which took place on October 9, 2012 at Matej Bel University in Bańska Bystrzyca (Słowacja).Pozycja Parę uwag o konferencji „Poezja okolicznościowa lat 1730-1830 w Polsce. Nowe (?) perspektywy badawcze”(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Magryś, RomanThe text includes a report on the scientific conference "1730-1830 Occasional Poetry in Poland. New (?) Research Perspectives" which took place from April 24-26, 2012 at University of Rzeszów and the East European State Higher School in Przemyśl.Pozycja „Promethidion” Cypriana Norwida i „List do artystów” Jana Pawła II, czyli rozważania o pięknie prawdziwym(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Gadamska-Serafin, RenataTwo voices of Polish thinkers and poets on true beauty – “Promethidion” by Cyprian Norwid and “Letter to artists” by John Paul II – are related to each other in the thought on the soteriological character of beauty which triumphantly leads the man beyond his poverty and the perspective of a fall. Both texts were written despite the dominating philosophical currents of their times. Norwid denied hedonism and fuctionalism, and John Paul II’s message from "Letter to artists" remains in principal intellectual opposition to the ‘culture of death’ and postmodern esthetical relativity. Norwid’s thought about beauty is also placed in opposition to promoted by the 20th-century avant-garde and taken over by postmodernism category of ‘originality’. The place of the significant for modernity subjectivism and esthetical relativism is taken over by ‘esthetical personalism’ in the works of the recluse from Paris.Pozycja Recepcja utworów Walerego Łozińskiego(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Niwińska-Lipińska, EwaThis article discusses critical literary texts devoted to Walery Łoziński. The writer became famous mainly as the author of "Zaklęty dwór" ("Enchanted manor"). Reception of Łoziński’s works has been discussed in three parts: "Contemporary on Łoziński", "Opinions about Łoziński’s output 1911-33" and "Opinions about Łoziński’s output – new ones". In part one both articles written during the writer’s life and those written after his premature death have been referred to. Part two makes reference to texts by Karol Estreicher senior and Wilhelm Bruchnalski, which remind of Łoziński figure but the main focus has been on the articles and the book by Adam Bar entitled "Zapomniany powieściopisarz lwowski" ("Forgotten novelist from Lvov"). In the end of this part there have been references to smaller texts on Łoziński. In part three main attention has been paid to texts which appeared after 1945. Smaller articles have been briefly discussed. The most of the attention has been devoted to the researcher who studied Walery Łoziński’s output thoroughly and deeply, namely to Julian Krzyżanowski. In the end TV series based on "Enchanted manor" directed by Antoni Krauze has been discussed.Pozycja Refleksje Karola Olgierda Borchardta o zawodzie nauczyciela (listy pisarza do „Zosi”)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2012) Rusin, JoannaKarol Olgierd Borchardt (1905-1986) was a captain of ocean going navigation, a writer and a teacher. He started his teaching job during World War II in England where taught in and directed Maritime Gymnasium and Grammar School in Landywood. In 1953-1978 he lectured (mainly astronavigation) at Gdynia Maritime University. He was a unique and even charismatic teacher. He did not punish his students, rarely gave bad marks, he always treated his pupils as subjects of the teaching process, in a way that could be described as ‘fatherly-facetious’ manner. This outline comprises unpublished Borchardt’s letters in which the writer expressed his thoughts on the most difficult, according to him, profession – the profession of a teacher.
