Abstract
Marnowanie żywności stanowi problem globalny, który w ciągu ostatnich lat stał się wyzwaniem społecznym i gospodarczym. Żywność marnowana jest na różnych etapach jej produkcji i dystrybucji przez producentów, dystrybutorów, gastronomię oraz sklepy. Najwięcej żywności marnuje się jednak w gospodarstwach domowych. Odpowiedzią na niezrównoważoną konsumpcję, może być idea freeganizmu. Przeprowadzone wśród studentów Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego badania ankietowe wskazują, że badanym zdarza się wyrzucać żywność, choć czują przed tym opór (98%). Zasadnicza większość z nich (86%) kupuje żywność przecenioną z powodu uszkodzeń lub krótkiej daty ważności. Wielu badanych studentów zna i popiera freeganizm (po 61% badanych), ale 76% nie uczestniczy w tym zjawisku.
Food waste is a global problem which in recent years has become a challenge for economy and for the society. Food is wasted at various stages of production and distribution, by farmers, manufacturers, distributors, as well as restaurants and stores. However, most food is wasted in households. Among others the idea of freeganism is a response to unsustainable consumption. A survey conducted among students of the University of Rzeszów, respondents sometimes throw away food (96%), although they feel resistance to do it (98%). Most of them (86%) buy food that is discounted because of damage or a short expiry date. Many students know what Freeganism egzisting and support this trend (61%), but 76% did not participate in this phenomenon.
