Cukrzyca typu 1 jest jedną z najczęściej rozpoznawanych chorób wieku dziecięcego. Na świecie, w Europie, a także w Polsce, liczba zachorowań gwałtownie wzrasta. Średni wskaźnik zapadalności na cukrzycę typu 1 w populacji dzieci i młodzieży do 18. roku życia, w badanych latach 2009- 2019 wynosi 21,2 dzieci/ 100 tys. osób/ rok. Powiaty o najwyższym wskaźniku zapadalności to: strzyżowski, przeworski i łańcucki ( 30/ 100 tys./ rok). Zaobserwowano wzrastającą tendencję wskaźnika zapadalności we wszystkich grupach wiekowych, w szczególności w grupie dzieci w wieku 5-9 i 10- 14 lat. Zapadalność była większa i istotnie zróżnicowana w populacji chłopców w poszczególnych powiatach oraz w grupie dzieci zamieszkujących w mieście. Potwierdzono także istotną statystycznie zależność pomiędzy liczbą zachorowań, a sezonem zachorowania. Najwięcej dzieci zachorowało w październiku i listopadzie, a najmniej w maju i w czerwcu.

Type 1 diabetes is one of the most commonly diagnosed childhood diseases. Globally, in Europe as well as in Poland, the incidence is increasing rapidly. The average incidence rate of type 1 diabetes in the population of children and adolescents up to 18 years of age, for the years 2009- 2019 studied, is 21.2 children/ 100,000 people/year. The districts with the highest incidence rate are: strzyżowski, przeworski and łańcucki ( 30/ 100 thousand/year). An increasing trend of the incidence rate was observed in all age groups, especially in the group of children aged 5-9 and 10- 14 years. The incidence rate was higher and significantly differentiated in the population of boys in individual districts and in the group of children living in the city. A statistically significant relationship between the number of cases and the season of illness was also confirmed. The highest number of children became ill in October and November and the lowest in June and May.
