Clinical escape room from theory to practice: the experience of an Italian nursing bachelor degree

| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The clinical escape room (CER) is a strategy, applied in the adult education, in various contexts and based on different settings or thematic areas. It is developed in a room or series of rooms, where inside students, solve a problem or a puzzle that may lead to the discovery of a key, or a numerical combination to unlock a lock. The CER supports learning in the clinical-care field combining knowledge, skills and fun, stimulates new knowledge, trains students to works in a group and develops skills in different contexts. Aim: The main aim of the chapter is to summarize our experience regarding the CER. Material and methods: A total of 55 students participated in the CER, divided into 11 teams of five members each. Results: On average it took 56.6 minutes (min 50–max 66), a value that did not differ greatly from what was hypothesized in the design phase. At the end of CER, the students’ responses freely at the question from a form for guarantee the anonymity. Conclusions: An activity considered in its digital version involving students during the period of social isolation. Having considered the potential of escape rooms and the curiosity for novelty, the CERs as a possible future strategy to support continuous training. | eng |
