Abstrakt

The following text presents research reports and theories describing the effects of music on the development of children, adults and professional musicians. The presented research shows that although playing an instrument brings many developmental benefits, artistic education and a professional music career are also associated with lowering the level of mental resilience, as well as with mental disorders, maladaptive perfectionism, and constant pressure and stress. Relating the results of the research to date to the theory of Albert Bandura, who introduced the concept of self-efficacy, which is the best predictor of musical achievement, the need to support self-efficacy among students of art schools and professional musicians was noticed. Authors of the text emphasize the constant need to conduct research in this particular group, the results of which could contribute to the introduction of aid programs aimed at supporting artists' self-efficacy and supporting verbal adaptive persuasion in the teacher / master-student relationship. This support could make professional musicians aware of their effectiveness and at the same time be deprived of the difficulties they now face.
