The algorithms included in the study were Naive Bayes Classi fier, K-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), Logistic Regression, Linear Regression, Ridge Re gression, and LASSO Regression. The study aimed to evaluate how the various algorithms per form in classification and regression tasks in the context of a specific problem, in this case fraud detection. The performance of the algorithms was evaluated based on key metrics such as accura cy, execution time, the difference between the best and worst results, and in terms of mean square error (MSE). Moreover, learning tools such as R and Python enable students not only to perform multidimensional data analysis, but also to predict future trends and changes. The ability to work with data, modelling and visualisation are key competences in the context of many areas of mo dern life and to support the making of accurate business decisions.Pozycja A Teacher in the Era of the Spread of Artificial Intelligence Applications – Challenges and Difficulties(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Ścieranka, SandraThe tasks of a modern teacher are definitely different from those they had to perform a decade ago. In the era of various changes taking place, constantly developing, but also accompanying digitization in every sphere of life, the role of the teacher takes on a new meaning – flexibility and openness to changes on their part become necessary. Therefore, teachers face new challenges, roles and skills to expand. The conducted considerations are aimed at showing the impact of digitization both on the daily work of the teacher, the performance of professional functions, as well as his relationship with students. The punchline becomes the need to use artificial intelligence tools, as well as the essence and necessity of media literacy of modern teachers, which is reflected in the entire didactic process carried out among students shaped by digitization and the world of media. Among the others, the aim of the work was to determine attitudes of the educators (on the rating scale) about the presented approach to the work.Pozycja A University as a Driving Force of Ecological Initiatives for Society(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Sobczyk, Wiktoria; Ciepiela, MaciejThis paper emphasizes the role of universities in encouraging ecological initiatives for sustainable development. We characterized the origin of sustainability and its consistency with the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Moreover, we present ecological education as the concept of lifelong learning in the spirit of respect for the natural world. The examples of pro-ecological higher education initiatives were described, such as Poznan School of Logistics (“EKO-LOG” programme), Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce and the University of Social and Medical Sciences in Warsaw (education of ethnic minorities), Andrzej Frycz-Modrzewski Krakow University and the University of Agriculture in Krakow (Friend of the National Park educational program) as well as the AGH University of Science and Technology (continuing education). It has been shown that schools and universities play a major role in environmental education not only for children, but also adults. It is worth mentioning that the potential and clout of universities should be continuously employed in the environmental movement.Pozycja An Analysis on Research Trends of Distance Education(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Mitroulia, Maria; Armakolas, Stefanos; Krotký, JanThe term “Distance Education” (hereafter DE) is gaining popularity amid new global trends in cross-cultural studies of transnational education. Gamification methods and gamification assessments attract more and more attention from both researchers and practitioners. We present the impact of learning rules and regulations of handball on the future referees of handball and people from the handball community (players, activists, sympathizers) from the implemented mobile application in comparison with the traditional method, i.e., from books or printed regulations. The results of the knowledge test for the users of the application were much better than traditional education. The analysis showed that in the first test, the users using the application and traditional learning achieved the same results (52%). In contrast, in the second test, the users using the application achieved 73% in comparison with the group not using the app (59%). Such a result may indicate that learning from the application has a good impact on the user. The adoption of gamification in learning and teaching is very popular and stimulating student motivation, involvement, and social influence.Pozycja Application of Digital Data Analysis Technology in Education(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Kovalev, Evgeniy E.The main directions of digitalization of the education system are considered, the infrastructural and technological aspect of new strategic directions of development is analyzed. The author analyzed information systems and services in education, taking into account the possibility of using technologies for analytical data processing. The problem of using data analytics tools in education at present is the lack of uniform formats and tools for integrating information systems. Data in education accumulates in various solutions that do not share the results of the educational process. Based on this, it is impossible to build a clear system of end-to-end interaction between systems on common platforms. The author aims to solve this problem by modeling an integrated solution for data analysis at all levels of education. The article proposes technical and organizational solutions for the creation of integrated analytics services that allow accumulating and transmitting data on educational results during the transition of a student between learning levels. The analysis tools are based on the use of big data technologies.Pozycja Approach to the Subject “DETE I EKOLOGIJA” by Applyingict at Preschool Institution(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022-12) Hilčenko, Slavoljub; Nikolić, SanjaThis text represents working approach to the subject “CHILD AND ECOLOGY” = „DETE I EKOLOGIJA” by applying ICT at preschool institution. The work is reflected in a combination of discussions about ecology, practical presentation of rules in recycling and sorting of various waste, projection of the educational film “EKOLOGIJA” and individual solving of play sheets by children. Within this contribution, we are based on the characteristics of augmented reality and the possibilities of developing applications for education, which relate to the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning and our experience with the possibilities of creating applications in augmented reality. Based on this, in the contribution we defined five key areas (appearance, functionality, content, cognitive effectivity and sharing, compatibility and connectivity) of requirements for the design of AR applications with the specification of cognitive effectivity for technical education.Pozycja Artificial (un)Intelligence – an Opportunity or a Threat?(Publishing Office UR, Rzeszów, 2020) Raczykowska, AnetaThe article contains considerations relating to the dynamic development of artificial intelligence, which is the fastest growing technology in the world. The article attempts to define concepts that state what intelligence and artifical intelligence is (1). It also draws attention to the development of artificial intelligence (2). All of them are closing arguments seeking answers to the question: Artificial intelligence – an opportunity or a threat? (3). It should be borne in mind that the continuous improvement of the possibilities of artificial intelligence means that it will be able to surpass human intellectually.Pozycja Artificial Intelligence and Ethics(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Hilcenko, Christine; Taubman-Bassirian, TaraA more covert aspect of Artificial Intelligence (AI) pertains to the ethical quandaries surrounding the actions of machines. In the case of Large Language Models (LLMs), hidden beneath their seemingly impeccable automated outputs lies a colossal amalgamation of trillions of compiled data points, comprising copied blogs, articles, essays, books, and artworks. This raises profound questions about copyright ownership and retribution for the original authors. But beyond intellectual property, another insidious facet of LLMs emerges – their propensity to cause harm to individuals through what can only be described as hallucinatory outputs. Victims of these AI- -generated delusions suffer defamation, and their plight remains largely unnoticed. Amidst the marvels of AI, the plight of the underpaid laborers who form the backbone of AI development is seldom acknowledged, a subject that warrants more profound discussion. Furthermore, as AI algorithms continue to permeate various aspects of society, they bring to the fore issues of bias. For instance, facial recognition technologies frequently exhibit skewed outcomes, leading to false accusations and grave consequences due to over-reliance on these technologies.Pozycja Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Development Trends and New Reality(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Chervona, Lesya; Lakusha, Nataliia; Krokhmal, Nataliia; Myroshnychenko, SerhiiThe article reveals various aspects of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Prospects for the use of AI in higher education are discussed, and specific examples of the use of AI for educational purposes are considered. AI, having great potential for improving the quality of higher education, also carries potential risks of use that must be taken into account. The role of artificial intelligence in the educational process of higher education, evaluation and management of educational processes is emphasized. That is why attention is focused on the issue of what aspects are behind the use of AI in education. The issue of ethical and social consequences of the use of AI in education is discussed.Pozycja Child: “I don’t Understand – We didn’t Learn that in Kindergarten!”(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Hilčenko, Slavoljub; Nikolić, SanjaBy the end of 2022, Serbia transformed its preschool education system, transitioning from a traditional approach to a project-based learning approach. However, if this transformation remains limited to preschool education without coordinated changes in learning at lower (and even higher) grades of elementary school in the next 4–8 year cycle, teachers, children, and their parents will be most affected. We believe that the new project-based approach to learning for children will not provide adequate fundamental and systematic knowledge in many scientific fields, including mathematics methodology (e.g., spatial and temporal relationships, arithmetic, number concept, ratios, fractions, geometry…). The consequences will not only be visible in their further education but also in their inadequate preparation to navigate their environment and understand space, time, relationships, and other mathematical concepts. This is what the educators' survey results are talking. The aim of this paper is to highlight possible problems since the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Education have not suggested a linear reform of these education levels.Pozycja Comment: ICT in Preschool(Publishing Office UR, Rzeszów, 2020) Hilčenko, SlavoljubICT Tools are not primary, but secondary learning source for teaching abstract mathematical concepts at preschool institution. As a matter of fact, for children ICT Tools don’t have the power of immediate and practical experience or experimental work, which are the primary source of learning such contents. ICT Tools can only be used to revise knowledge after children have acquired it through direct manipulative activities and experiments, which require sensory experiences (eyes, hands). In that way children estimate volume of different liquids and their dishes firstly subjectively and then objectively.Pozycja Comparison of Angular, React, and Vue Technologies in the Process of Creating Web Applications on the User Interface Side(The University of Rzeszów Publishing House, 2023-12) Dymora, Paweł; Mazurek, Mirosław; Nycz, MariuszThis paper presents a comparative analysis of three programming technologies and their application in building a web application, taking into account the code on the server-side and the user interface side.
