dc.description.abstract	Cyrus Młodszy był irańskim księciem państwa perskiego Achemenidów (550-330). Narodził się ok. roku 424/423 jako syn Dariusza II (424/423-404) i jego żony Parysatis wkrótce po objęciu przez Dariusza korony. W 408 r., w wieku ok. 16 lat, został Cyrus wysłany do niespokojnej wówczas Anatolii. Przybył tam obdarzony przez ojca godnością karanosa (stp. *kārana-, aram. krny), zapewniającą mu szeroki zakres władzy w regionie. Zachodnie i północno-zachodnie wybrzeża Anatolii były wówczas ogarnięte tzw. wojną jońską (413-404), ostatnią fazą wojny peloponeskiej (431-404). Wojnę jońską państwo perskie prowadziło przy współpracy ze Spartą, przeciwko Atenom. Włączenie się w nią Cyrusa i jego współpraca ze spartańskim dowódcą floty Lysandrem przyniosły zwycięstwo nad ateńskim rywalem. Wkrótce po sukcesie Cyrusa na tym polu zmarł jego ojciec, a władzę po nim objął najstarszy jego syn Arsakes, panujący jako Artakserkses II (404-359). Konflikt między Cyrusem a Artakserksesem doprowadził najpierw do aresztowania Cyrusa przez Artakserksesa, a następnie do wojny między nimi. Wojna ta zakończyła się śmiercią Cyrusa w bitwie pod Kunaksą (401). Począwszy od roku 408, kiedy to przybył Cyrus do Anatolii, po 401, kiedy to poległ w bitwie, w jego otoczeniu pojawiło się wielu Hellenów. Przed Cyrusem Młodszym mało Irańczyków utrzymywało z Hellenami kontakty na taką skalę jak on.	pl_PL.UTF-8
dc.description.abstract	Cyrus the Younger was the Iranian prince of the Achaemenid Persian Empire (550-330). He was born about 424/423 as the son of Darius II (424/423-404) and his wife Parysatis soon after Darius took the crown. In 408, when he was about 16, he was sent to Anatolia, a troublous region at that time. He came there nominated by his father for the post of karanos (OP *kārana-, Aram. krny), which gave him a vast range of authority in the region. At that time western and northwestern shores of Anatolia were involved in the socalled Ionian War (413-404), the last phase of the Peloponnesian War (431-404). The Persian Empire waged the Ionian War cooperating with Sparta, against Athens. By Cyrus’ involvement in the war and his cooperation with the Spartan fleet commander Lysander, the Athenian rival has been defeated. Soon after Cyrus’ success on this field his father died and was succeeded by his oldest son Arsakes, reigning as Artaxerxes II (404-359). There was a conflict between Cyrus and Artaxerxes which led fist to arrest Cyrus by Artaxerxes and next to the war between them. The war was over when Cyrus had fallen at the battle of Cunaxa (401). From the year of 408, when he arrived to Anatolia, to 401, when he had fallen at the battle, there were many Hellenes around him.
