dc.description.abstract | The main aim of the article is to present the way of depicting the theme of masculinity and bravery in lyrics of power metal songs, through references to heroic fantasy literature. The authoress shows how the perception of the concept of courage has changed over the centuries. She also characterizes specific elements that characterize heroic fantasy. Based on the analysis of selected examples of power metal song lyrics, she shows how metal bands refer to heroic fantasy and how it helps with placing the theme of bravery in their songs. The article also shows the phenomenon of intertextuality, related to this aspect. | eng |
