To ogromne źródło danych o życiu, wartościach, codziennych sytuacjach i otaczającej rzeczywistości mieszkańców regionu.
The subject of this work is a linguistic analysis of the linguistic image of the world hidden in the lyrics of folk songs from the Rzeszów region. The main purpose of the dissertation was to show the most important aspects of how reality is understood by the society of Rzeszów. The material basis for the analysis are folk songs from the archives of the Ethnographic Museum in Rzeszów. The songs were written and classified by Jan Robak, an amateur ethnographer from Rzeszów, between 1917 and 1977. The collection contains about four thousand lyrics. It is a huge source of data about the life, values, everyday situations, and the surrounding reality of the inhabitants of the region. Based on the analysis of the collected material, five main themes were noticed: the image of God, the image of a woman, the image of a man, the image of love, and the image of nature and rural life. The richness of the songs did not allow each of those themes to be expanded upon, therefore the issues covered and described by the thesis are the main, most frequently repeated themes, constituting the fundamental basis for further description and specification of subsequent semantic connotations.
