Celem niniejszej pracy było przedstawienie historii tomaszowskiego PUBP ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zagadnień i czynników procesowych towarzyszących w latach 1944–1956 zmianom strukturalnym tegoż urzędu. Pracy nadano układ problemowochronologiczny. Dzieli się na siedem rozdziałów. W rozdziale I scharakteryzowano powiat i miasto Tomaszów z chwilą zajęcia go krótkotrwale we wrześniu 1939 r. przez oddziały Armii Czerwonej, a następnie po zmianie ustaleń paktu Ribbentrop – Mołotow na mocy układu sowiecko – niemieckiego o „Przyjaźni i granicy” przez oddziały niemieckiej. W rozdziale ukazano zatem po krótce przemiany zachodzące w mieście i powiecie tomaszowskim, udział władz okupacyjnych w polityce represyjnej wymierzonej wobec mieszkańców, a także działalność polskich organizacji konspiracyjnych. Rozdział II poświęcony jest tworzeniu się tomaszowskiego PUBP i pierwszym miesiącom jego funkcjonowania. W dwóch jego wyodrębnionych podrozdziałach czytelnik znajdzie informacje nt. struktury organizacyjno – kadrowej PUBP w Tomaszowie w latach 1944-1956 ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zachodzących tam przemian. W rozdziale III podjęto próbę przedstawienia środowiska socjalnego funkcjonariuszy PUBP. Po krótce opisano m. in. ich wykształcenie, pochodzenie, wiek czy wyznanie. Czytelnik w rozdziale otrzymuje także opis wykroczeń i demoralizacji funkcjonariuszy tomaszowskiego PUBP ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich dyscypliny, stanu moralnego i stosowania niedozwolonych metod śledczych. W rozdziale IV autor podjął próbę ukazania pracy pod przykrywką sieci agenturalnej i jej udział w działaniach operacyjnych prowadzonych przez PUBP. Najbardziej obszerne Rozdziały V i VI poświęcono zwalczaniu podziemia niepodległościowego, zaś rozdział VII kierunkom działań operacyjnych PUBP ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem rozpracowania Stronnictwa Narodowego, Kościoła Katolickiego i innych wyznań, zabezpieczenia kontrwywiadowczego oraz opisano zakres kontroli sfery gospodarczej w tym środowiska wiejskiego oraz wrogą propagandę.

The purpose of this dissertation was to present the history of the Tomaszów District Public Security Bureau (DPSB) with particular emphasis on issues and procedural factors accompanying the structural changes of that office in 1944-1956. The dissertation is of a problem-chronological order. It is divided into seven chapters. Chapter I characterizes the district and the city of Tomaszów when it was temporarily occupied in September 1939 by troops of the Red Army, and then after changing the arrangements of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact under the SovietGerman agreement on "Friendship and the Border" by German troops. Therefore, the chapter briefly presents the changes taking place in the city and the district of Tomaszów, the participation of the occupation authorities in the repressive policy against the inhabitants, as well as the activities of Polish underground organizations. Chapter II is devoted to the creation of the Tomaszów DPSB and the first months of its functioning. In its two separate subchapters, the reader will find information on the organizational and personnel structure of DPSB in Tomaszów in 1944-1956, with particular emphasis on the changes taking place there. Chapter III attempts to present the social environment of DPSB officers. There were briefly described, among others their education, origin, age or religion. The reader also receives a description of the offenses and demoralization of the Tomaszów DPSB officers, with particular emphasis on their discipline, moral status and the use of prohibited methods of investigation. In Chapter IV, the author attempts to show the work under the guise of an agent network and its participation in operational activities carried out by DPSB. The most extensive Chapters V and VI are devoted to combating independence underground, while Chapter VII focuses on the directions of operational activities of the DPSB, with particular emphasis on the development of the National Party, the Catholic Church and other denominations, counterintelligence safeguards, and describes the scope of control of the economic sphere, including the rural environment and hostile propaganda.
