Abstrakt
The purpose of the paper is to present the roles played by the categories of race and gender in the linguistic image of the Democratic Party nominee in the 2024 presidential election. In view of Kamala Harris’ Indian and Afro-Jamaican background, it is well-based to carry out an analysis from an intersectional perspective, which aims to show how categories of discrimination overlap, negatively affecting Harris’ linguistic picture. The research was conducted on the basis of texts published in 2024 in the right-wing media: Human Events, Fox News, The New American and The Federalist. This article shows how the linguistic image of Kamala Harris is influenced by portraying her in the media discourse through the prism of stereotyped gender roles, how the right-wing media perceive the immigrant origin of the politician and how the category of gender and race have become a tool for devaluing her professional experience and competence.
