Abstract

One of the main components of the community of Rzeszów are families living in the major city of the province of Podkarpacie. This paper attempts to make an analysis of the condition of families living in Rzeszow, their specific features and dynamics of changes. Special attention is paid to single parents and large families. As regards problems of a child, the paper discusses possibility of taking care and upbringing of children living under foster family and institutional custody. An analysis of the support provided to a family focused on helping a family facing problems to fulfil its caretaking and upbringing function and on providing support to a family facing crisis and in the midst of difficult life situations. Conclusions show areas whose development could contribute to satisfying the needs of the families of Rzeszów better and to improve their functioning in local community.
