Związane to jest między innymi z: globalizacją rynków i ich umiędzynarodowieniem, powstawaniem nowoczesnych rynków kapitałowych, jak również niestabilnością polityczną i finansową. Powoduje to narastającą liczbę problemów skutecznego zarządzania współczesnymi organizacjami, jak również szerzej pojętym społeczeństwem informacyjnym.
