Abstract

W artykule autorka analizuje wizerunek Świętego Józefa utrwalony w memach internetowych. Celem badań jest rekonstrukcja obrazu tej postaci w cyfrowym dyskursie, w tym sposobów jego mitologizacji i dekonstrukcji. Materiał badawczy obejmuje 54 memy pochodzące z platform katolickich i ogólnych. Wyniki wskazują na dualizm przedstawień świętego: katolickie memy ukazują Józefa jako wzór ojcostwa i rzemieślnika, natomiast świeckie często podważają jego autorytet, ukazując go jako postać naiwną lub oszukaną. W memach łączy się sacrum z profanum, a humor wynika z kontrastu religijnej podniosłości z codziennymi realiami. Badania potwierdzają, że internetowa kultura wizualna wpływa na percepcję postaci świętych, prowadząc do ich resemantyzacji i adaptacji do współczesnych narracji kulturowych.

The article analysesthe image of Saint Joseph in internet memes. The aim of the study is to reconstruct his representation in digital discourse, including the ways in which he is mythologized and deconstructed. The research material consists of 54 memes sourced from both Catholic and general platforms. The findings indicate a duality in the representations of Saint Joseph: Catholic memes depict him as an ideal father and craftsman, while secular ones often challenge his authority, portraying him as a naïve or deceived figure. The memes blend the sacred with the profane, with humor emerging from the contrast between religious solemnity and everyday realities. The study confirms that internet visual culture influences the perception of saints, leading to their resemanticization and adaptation to contemporary cultural narratives.
