Niezwykle ważna jest szeroka diagnoza wszystkich aspektów jąkania, nie tylko tych widocznych (niepłynności, współruchów), ale również trudniejszych do zauważania, jak postawy i emocje związane z jąkaniem i komunikowaniem się zarówno dziecka, jak i jego najbliższego otoczenia. W artykule zaprezentowano narzędzia diagnostyczne pomocne w ocenie postaw i emocji towarzyszących jąkaniu. Wskazane zostały również sposoby profilaktyczno-terapeutyczne wspierające jąkające się dziecko w radzeniu sobie z trudnymi uczuciami oraz w budowaniu odpowiedniego nastawienia do mówienia i jąkania.

The article stresses that stuttering is a complex disorder that can affect the quality of a stuttering child's life. It is crucial to diagnose all the aspects of stuttering – not only the visible ones (disfluency, synkinesis) but also the more difficult to see, i.e. the stuttering-related attitudes and emotions in both the children and their friends and families. The article presents the diagnostic tools that help to assess the attitudes and emotions associated with stuttering. Some prophylactic and therapeutic measures have also been advocated to support stuttering children in coping with difficult feelings and in building appropriate attitudes towards speaking and stuttering.
