Pozycja Home care experiences of mothers of children with tracheostomies – a qualitative study(Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszow, 2023-06) Donmez, Hatice; Gozetici, ElifIntroduction and aim. Parents of children who are addicted to technology have many problems in home care. This study aimed to describe the home care experiences of mothers of children with tracheostomies. Material and methods. The study adopted Husserl’s phenomenological method, a qualitative research design. The sample consisted of 23 mothers of children with tracheostomies followed up in the pediatric pulmonology outpatient clinic of a university hospital. All participants cared for their children at home. Data were collected using a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview questionnaire. All interviews were recorded and transcribed. Results. Children (12 girls and 11 boys) had a mean age of 3.43±3.326 years. The mean age of tracheostomy insertion was 2.8±2.508 years. Seventeen children were on ventilator support. All participants were mothers with a mean age of 32.34±6.00 years. Half the mothers had primary school degrees (52.2%). The interviews revealed one main theme (burnout), three subthemes (social isolation, perception of competence, and regrets), and five categories (burden of care, fear, awareness, decisions, and role confusion). Conclusion. Mothers of children with tracheostomies experience numerous problems when they provide home care. They mostly have difficulty improving themselves and enduring role confusion. We must address the issues mothers of children with tracheostomies face during home care to reduce the prevalence of potential complications and improve the quality of care for both them and their children.Pozycja KAPITAŁ RODZICIELSKI W OCENIE MŁODZIEŻY STUDIUJĄCEJ W UKRAINIE, LITWIE I POLSCE(Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2024) Kwak, Anna; Bieńko, Mariola; Szluz, BeataThe aim of the article is to analyze the transmission of parental capital in the family in the area of competences, attitudes, preferences, values and behaviors. The empirical basis of the article is material collected in quantitative research conducted in 2018-2019 in Kharkov, Lviv, Vilnius, Rzeszów and Warsaw among students aged 20-23. The research was aimed at understanding the image of the family home and assessing the elements of parental capital transferred by mothers and fathers from the point of view of Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Polish students. The obtained results show the difference in the assessment of capital on the mother’s and father’s side. Due to the nationality of the respondents, Ukrainian and Polish students present a similar picture of the analyzed phenomena.Pozycja Matka Polka Destruktorka – dwa oblicza dysfunkcyjnego macierzyństwa (na przykładzie „Szopki” Zośki Papużanki i „Gorzko, gorzko” Joanny Bator)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022-12) Głos, MikołajThe aim of the article is to present two different images of dysfunctional motherhood in contemporary fictional Polish prose on the example of the novel “Gorzko, Gorzko” by Joanna Bator and “Szopka” by Zośka Papużanka. The first of them, represented by the protagonist Violetta Serce of “Gorzko, Gorzko”, fits in the current literature trend of creating an anti-mother character, an enemy who usually perceives a child as a “problem” or is unable or does not want / cannot show him or her feelings, because motherhood it is an obstacle for her. The second is represented by the nameless mother of Zośka Papużanka’s “Szopka”, who identifies the so-called “Gastronomic mother”. The analysis shows that Polish prose of the last two decades still lacks the figure of a mother-friend, and the trauma of being born and growing up in the realities of the PRL’s and capitalism has permanently entered the minds of contemporary writers, destroying optimistic hopes for a successful family life and motherhood.Pozycja Portret matki we współczesnej polskiej i francuskiej prozie (na przykładzie Bezmatka Miry Marcinów i Pewnej kobiety Annie Ernaux)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2024) Mackiewicz, OlgaThe subject of the article is the portrayal of mothers in two contemporary prose works: Bezmatek by Mira Marcinów and A Woman’s Story by Annie Ernaux. The author, citing the works of Agnieszka Starobierska and Maria Mann, traces the evolution of the portrayal of the mother figure in Polish and French literatures – from biblical references to breaking away from the glorification of motherhood. To demonstrate how contemporary literature deconstructs the ‘traditional’ view of motherhood, the prose works of Marcinów and Ernaux are invoked. Both Bezmatek and A Woman’s Story were written after the deaths of the authors’ mothers, which makes the narrative oscillate between tenderness (Marcinów) and the desire to place the mother figure in a social and cultural context (Ernaux). The prose works are also brought together by the writers’ desire to search for a new form of expression. Both authors admit that they dedicated books to the most important women in their lives.Pozycja „Sikam, rzygam i płaczę. Jestem w ciąży” – matryfokalne (de)konstrukcje obrazów ciąży w twórczości Manueli Gretkowskiej i Justyny Bargielskiej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2024) Głos, MikołajLiterature based on personal experiences can take various forms – an intimate relationship, somewhat closed to the reader-viewer who can only follow someone’s fate, or therapeutic works. These findings become the starting point for the analysis and interpretation of two novels – Polka (2001) by Manuela Gretkowska and Obsoletki (2010) by Justyna Bargielska. The main aim of the article is to analyze the writers’ (self-)portrait as mothers in the perspective of upcoming motherhood. By using the form of a novel diary, the authors try to work through the stress and trauma associated with (un)planned motherhood, which is unique in the context of contemporary Polish literature.
