In this text six Józef Czapski’s letters to Stanisław Lorentz are published from years 1958-1960 and 1978. These letters concern donating Czapski’s drawings and paintings to the National Museum. One of them includes the painter’s reflections on the subject of his drawing and its importance for him.

The article is dedicated to an unknown letters of Kazimierz Wyka and Stanisław Pigoń to the priest Jan Wiśniewski, which were found in the Diocesan Library in Sandomierz. Both resarchers wishd to gain access to the works of Adam Mickiewicz and Cyprian Kamil Norwid. The main contents of these letters are requests for a possibility of reading authographs of these works. Jan Wiśniewski was a known and worthy collector of Polish memorabilia. Stanisław Pigoń was reasercher and publisher of the works of Adam Mickiewicz. Kazimierz Wyka, as a historian of Polish literature, studied works of Cyprian Kamil Norwid.

The text presents 16 letters written by Zygmunt Mycielski during the period of 1960–1986 and addressed to Stanisław Lorentz . The letters provide a testimony of long-lasting acquaintanceship of the prominent intellectuals. The edition of correspondence materials is preceded with the introduction discussing the circumstances of their mutual contacts.
Lubelscy korespondenci Edwarda Stachury – Maria Bechczyc-Rudnicka

Edward Stachura spent three years of his life in Lublin. He enrolled at the Catholic University of Lublin in 1957, majoring in French Philology. In 1960 he moved to Warsaw and started coressodnance to Maria Bechczyc-Rudnicka who was a chief editor in local literary newspaper “Kamena”. Stachura published there some of his works. The letters which are stored in Hieronim Łopaciński Public Library in Lublin give us some information about writer’s life which he used to spend “in road” nad his works sent as attachments. We have letters of Stachura but not of Bechczyc-Rudnicka because at the end of his life he decided to burn all letters and photos directed to him. Thats why editors could not collect any dialog of correspondance. The letters have been read from the handwritten manuscripts, typescripts and edited (the language of the letters has not been changed). The letters appear in print for the very first time.
The Image of the United States in the Published Correspondence of Czesław Miłosz Written Between 1945 and 1950

The article discusses the image of the United States depicted in Czesław Miłosz’s correspondence coming from the years 1945-1950. The author of the article refers to the circumstances that led the poet to taking up a job as a diplomat and analyses a variety of opinions on that decision circulating among both Polish and émigré writers. The letters discussed reflect the culture shock and the slow process of acclimatization that the poet went through; his way of perceiving and trying to understand America. The article also focuses on the role Miłosz played as a mediator between the Old and the New Worlds, translating American literature into Polish and trying to popularize Polish culture in the US.
