Abstract
The concept of people's Poland was created during the partitions. It was one of the instruments of the "struggle for the soul" of the serfdom peasant. The slogan "People's Poland" met the criteria of propaganda function, being formulated as the antithesis of gentry-ruled Poland and conveyed many hopes. The peasants believed that independent Poland would be a just homeland for them. The idea of people's Poland had a significant impact on the political thought of members of the people’s movement. One of them was Aleksander Bogusławski, a well-known activist and people's movement politician, who saw the embodiment of a strategic political and social goal in the idea of People's Poland.
