Pozycja „Bieda (z tą Polską)”. Prostacy i mieszczanie: modernizacyjna naturalizacja i normalizacja peryferyjnych nierówności(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2017) Kubiak, AdamThe paper presents the question of the urban narration in contemporary Poland interpreted as an anachronistic form of the naturalization and normalization of social and symbolic inequalities created after the transformations of 1989. That subject being one of the very import elements of the self-image of local, subordinated elites, while strongly present in journalism, remains also very problematic. Uncertainty over the role and shape of this class in Poland in a historical context was (and still is) fiercely contested. Where important elements of such controversies are its forms, from „lordship”, derived from gentry imaginations, through the politics and heritage of emancipation in the Polish Peoples’ Republic, and modern serious existential uncertainty associated with the decomposition of the traditional formulas „bourgeois” and „third state”. This paper offers a proposition for the reinterpretation of the contemporary „bourgeois tale” in the context of the „post-communist narration”, which, often seen as seemingly antagonistic, are, as the paper's argument stands, closely connected elements of a modernization strategy reconstructing anachronistic peripheral inequality in new, globalized conditions. Historie dzieci z ADHD, autyzmem i zespołem Aspergera. Portret Emily Dickinson w filmie „Cicha namiętność” Terence’a Daviesa(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2019) Bobowski, SławomirEmily Dickinson was not married nor had children, she did not establish a family, but she had a life filled to the brim with love, friendship, suffering, death, searching for God and, of course, writing poems about all these fundamental phenomena of human existence. Her poetry reveals a picture of a woman who is unusually spiritually rich, beautiful and…unhappy, living for the bigger part of her mature existence like a hermit, oftentimes being a witness of deaths of those to whom she was closest. Additionally, perhaps because of her Sapphic inclination, she could experience suffering being forced to suppress it and feeling social isolation or exclusion. On the other hand, any reader of poems by “the nun of Amherst” can sense a great blast of happiness and some ecstatic delight over the existence itself and… the possibility of expressing this delight in poems. Just life itself and poetry were the greatest passions of Dickinson among many others which profusely filled her psyche. Indeed, it is difficult to assess which of these two infatuations was stronger. That is why I used in the title of my essay a neologism: “life-writing” (“życiopisanie”), which was some time ago first employed by the Polish poet Edward Stachura in reference to his own life and poetry. Terence Davies’s movie about Emily Dickinson and her life is a real masterpiece in which the weave of the two main passions Dickinson had, their interpenetration, their ardent intimacy or simply indissolubility and unity have been shown in a deliciously suggestive way. The essay is a modest attempt at using such a way of describing things.Pozycja Topografia baśniowego pogranicza jako reprezentacja doświadczania zła (na podstawie zbiorów baśni pisarzy polskich)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2017) Ślósarska, JoannaWhile reconstructing the subject of fairy-like borderland I consecutively discuss the problems of literary topography as a spatial figure of experiencing evil, next releasing the conflict and creation of domesticated seats and internalization and projection of fairy-like evil. In the conclusion I emphasize the tension between internal and social maturation of the hero and the semantics of the threshold and transgression as a special way of lexical organization of the fairytale form referring these problems onto theoretical and analytical contexts of postmodern culture. Because while being on the borderland fairytale characters experience evil of mainly situational character I accept in my analysis the basic assumptions of the phenomenological- existential philosophy of Gabriel Marcel dealing with the situation in which evil is encountered and experienced by specific subjects.Pozycja Zdzisław Beksiński i ponowoczesna melancholia. Zarys interpretacyjny („Na końcu ogrodu”, „Centrala snów”, „Informator”)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2019) Szczyrek, PawełThe artistic output of Zdzisław Beksiński finds recognition all over the world. Not so long ago, his visual heritage was enriched by new, literary accomplishments – the collection of short stories written by the artist between 1963 and 1965. The present paper is an analysis of three most expressive pieces in terms of studied esthetics: “Na końcu ogrodu”, “Centrala snow” oraz “Informator”. Beksiński’s short stories are here placed in the context of postmodern melancholy characterized by affirmation of experienced emptiness the source of which was sought for in Beksinski’s generational experiences. On these grounds, a thesis is proposed where the holistic creative concept which merges visual and literary accomplishments is expressed by three figures: decay, repetition and ontological uncertainty. Not only is the object of the analysisa theoretical aspect of a worldview present in the literary works but it also functions as a specific fictional-structural solution.
