Pozycja „Bieguny sensu”. J.W. Gomulickiego (Warszawa 1971). Rozdział pierwszy zawiera opis najważniejszych koncepcji badawczych, wedle których kategoria kontrastów w twórczości Norwida odgrywa istotną rolę oraz wybranych koncepcji filozoficznych inspirujących poetę. Drugi rozdział traktuje o obecności w świecie przedstawionym wierszy Cypriana Norwida przeciwstawień pojęć ugruntowanych w kulturze i wybieranych zupełnie autorsko. Rozdział trzeci ujmuje zbiór opozycji o charakterze przestrzennym i czasowym. Wybrane przykłady funkcjonowania symboliki bieli w liryce Cypriana Norwida(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2020) Wójcik, MariaThe article presents functioning of whiteness as a symbol in Cyprian Norwid’s poetic works, based on selected examples. The author indicates that this issue has not yet been fully investigated and the article is only an outline of the subject due to its extent. The research is focused on several selected meanings: whiteness of the landscape, white color as a symbol of nobility and divinity, of virginity and purity, even of ethical ambiguity. Author also distinguishes between themes of whiteness and pallor. White color can be mainly associated with theme of the light in poetry, which Norwid very often used, but this not makes the only meaning. Ancient and Christian culture defined the semantics of white color as a symbol of purity, virginity and divinity and such meanings dominate in Norwid’s poems. Interestingly, the writer also used the whiteness to describe the nature of evil. The poet juxtaposed the symbolism of white by comparing it to dirt or black color, he accumulated themes related to whiteness as well to show its meaning in a broader context. In conclusion, Norwid, in his poetic works, often used the symbolism of whiteness in the sense determined by culture, however, he did it in an original way, enriching it with his own ideas and associations.Pozycja Teatralizacje Cypriana Norwida(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022-12) Braun, KazimierzThe article investigates selected uses of theatricality by the poet and playwright Cyprian Norwid (1821-1883). Based on his previous works on theatricality, among others, his book “Theatricality of Life. Practices and Startegies” (A. Marszałek, Toruń 2020), as well as his numerous publications on Norwid, Kazimierz Braun focuses on four, especially evident, cases of Norwid’s bringing theatricality into play in his life. They are discussed in the chapters of the article: “Norwid on Horseback, Norwid Without a Coat, Norwid in a Cap “Konfederatka”, Norwid as Dalang”. (The latter chapter compares Norwid with an Indonesian Dalang, who is a “total” artist of theatre). Each case of use of theatricality by Norwid brought about a significant literary output such as poems, dramas, short stories and letters.Pozycja Wprowadzenie do „Za kulisami” Cypriana Norwida(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Braun, KazimierzKazimierz Braun introduces his stage adaptation of “Behind the Wings”, a drama considered the crowning achievement of the poet/playwright, Cyprian Norwid (1821–1883). Behind the Wings is composed of two parts. The action of one part takes place in the 19th Century in Warsaw. The other is situated in ancient Greece around the 7th Century BC. Both parts are bound by the structure of “theatre within theatre”, popularized by Shakespeare in Hamlet. The Danish Prince uses the production of “The Murder of Gonzago” to unmask the murderer King. The hero of “Behind the Wings”, Omegitt, uses his play Tyrtaeus to unmask the moral degradation of his contemporaries. The action of the entire play (composed of these two parts) takes place in a theatre, where, during a carnival ball, among other attractions, “Tyrtaeus” is performed. “Behind the Wings”, as many of Norwid’s works, was not published during the author’s life time and was preserved with significant loopholes. Thus, for a production of this play the existing text must be adapted and transformed into a working scenario. The article discusses major obstacles which hinder the entrance to the great and complex dramatic edifice of “Behind the Wings” – such as the problems of the multitude of the characters, and the specific use of space and time by Norwid. In addition to the analysis of “Behind the Wings”, Kazimierz Braun recalls his own works on this play, beginning by his studies of Polish Literature at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and at the Directing Department, Warsaw’s School of Drama. During his long career he directed fifteen productions of Norwid’s texts, both in theatres and in television in Poland. A literary adaptation and a miseen- scène project of “Behind the Wings” prepared by Kazimierz Braun was published in a book: Cyprian Norwid, “Za kulisami”, opracowanie literackie i inscenizacyjne Kazimierz Braun, Wydawnictwo Pewne, Kielce 2021.Pozycja Znaczenia pieśni w wierszu „Do obywatela Johna Brown”(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022-12) Nurzyńska-Kozak AgnieszkaThe aim of this article was the analysis of the meanings of song and their transformations in the poem by Cyprian Norwid “Do obywatela Johna Brown”. As a result of interpretational close-ups (especially to the initial phrase and the climax of this poem) the polysemic song by Norwid appears not only as a lyrical genre, a term synonymous to poetry in general but also as an act with performative and transgressive features leading the lyrical subject – also through a specifically ‘musical’ shaping of this poem – towards the experience of epiphany of sacrum (Marian and Christological motives).
