Nawrócenie jako temat poezji – droga Romana Brandstaettera do chrześcijaństwa

The article discusses the subject of conversion as a subject of poetry on the example of the work of Roman Brandstaetter. It focused on the post-war creativity of the author, who in 1946 officially abandoned Judaism, received baptism and became a Catholic. Focused on two aspects of conversion. First of all, these were the circumstances of life: the need to leave the country, problems related to the Polish-Jewish identity, death of parents, parting with the first wife. Secondly, these were issues related to the biblical experience of God, because reading the Bible had a great significance for the poet since the time of Polish studies. Confirmations of the issue are confirmed by quotes from works that are testimonies of changes taking place in the author’s life, making up a rich picture of his spiritual transformation.

Artykuł dotyczy twórczości poetyckiej ks. Janusza Pasierba. Zwraca uwagę na znaczenie, które w tej poezji mają paradoksy. Katolicki kapłan koncentruje się na tematach trudnych, bólu i cierpieniu, zwracając uwagę, iż te doświadczenia pozostają w nierozerwalny sposób związane z życiem człowieka. Zauważa również, że ci, którzy zostali wybrani przez Boga, w silniejszy sposób zmagają się z różnego rodzaju problemami. Nie oznacza to jednak, iż należy się poddawać – z jego tekstów płynie jasne przesłanie dotyczące tego, że poprzez trudności człowiek zbliża się do Stwórcy i otwiera na chrześcijańską nadzieję, perspektywę zbawczą.

The article concerns the poetry of priest Jan Twardowski. This Catholic priest in his literary works focused on the problem of the relationship between God and man. The poet takes up difficult topics. He does not shy away from showing the issues of suffering, pain and the negative emotions associated with these feelings. Contrary to many religious artists, Twardowski does not show strong tensions in the relationship between God and man. It shows that you can also go through dramatic experiences without losing faith and trust in the Creator. His consistent work not only stands out from the background of Polish religious poetry, but also brings hope and optimism to the readers.
