The paper is devoted to the analysis of lexical markers of hatred in Polish and Russian and their syntactic roles. The following units remain in the scope of the Author’s interest: ненавидеть, ненависть, ненавидящий, ненавистный, ненавистно; nienawidzić, nienawiść, nienawistny, nienawistnie. In order to express strong enmity towards somebody or something the verbal model of a state sentence is usually used: Nienawidzę cię; Я тебя ненавижу (I hate you). The remaining examples name the negative emotional state of the subject indirectly.

The article presents linguistic means of expressing emotions on the syntactic level in Polish and Russian. State sentence models, exclamatory sentences, emphatic word order, parcellation, repetition of words and sentences as well as exclamations are described in the present paper. The syntactic means of expressing emotions usually coexist in a sentence. If an utterance expresses strong emotions, it accumulates reduplication of emotive lexicon, exclamations, particles, emphatic word order and sudden pause of a sentence. One can usually observe parcelling of an emotive word into a separate utterance.

The article discusses occasionally occurring adverbial intensifiers with the secondary meaning of high degree, like безумно, страшно, ужасно, чертовски, жутко, дико, адски, бешено, дьявольски, смертельно; strasznie, śmiertelnie, szalenie, potwornie, okropnie, diabelnie, dziko, okrutnie + names of positive emotional states of happiness, joy, love, satisfaction and cheerfulness. They are typical for spoken colloquial language only, in which the expressive function is more important than logical norms defining meanings of the lexemes.
