Na terenie województwa podkarpackiego odnaleźć można miejsca, gdzie przed wybuchem II wojny światowej istniały miejscowości, zamieszkane przez wielokulturowe społeczeństwo. Za przyczyną działań okołowojennych przestały one istnieć, a ich mieszkańcy zmuszeni byli do migracji. Zmieniły się również relacje międzyludzkie. Ważne są wspomnienia byłych mieszkańców tych miejscowości, oraz ich potomków. Podejmowanie badań dotyczących pamięci przeszłości mieszkańców Polski jest bardzo istotne dla zrozumienia różnych procesów, które zachodzą współcześnie. Głównym celem prowadzonych badań, oraz niniejszej pracy, jest poznanie, na ile, i w jaki sposób wspomnieniowa narracja byłych mieszkańców nieistniejących wsi oraz ich potomków wywiera wpływ na ich poczucie tożsamości i odwrotnie: na ile ich poczucie tożsamości oddziałuje na pamięć o przeszłości. Przedmiotem badań jest pamięć byłych mieszkańców (oraz ich potomków) wsi, które nie istnieją w chwili obecnej w województwie podkarpackim. Zbadano pamięć przez pryzmat biografii trzech pokoleń. Aspekt pokoleniowy jest ważny, nie tylko ze względu na to, co zostało zapamiętane, i co zostało zapominane, ale także, dlaczego tak się dzieje, że jedne fakty utrwalają się we wspomnieniach, a inne zupełnie znikają z pamięci lub zostają wyparte.

In the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, you can find places where, before the outbreak of World War II, there were towns inhabited by a multicultural society. Due to the actions surrounding the war, they ceased to exist and their inhabitants were forced to migrate. Human relationships have also changed. The memories of the former inhabitants of these towns and their descendants are important. Undertaking research on the memory of the past of the inhabitants of Poland is very important for understanding the various processes that are taking place today. The main goal of the research and this work is to find out to what extent and how the reminiscences of the former inhabitants of non-existent villages and their descendants affect their sense of identity, and vice versa: to what extent their sense of identity affects the memory of the past. The subject of the research is the memory of former inhabitants (and their descendants) of villages that do not currently exist in the Podkarpackie Province. Memory was examined through the prism of the biographies of three generations. The generational aspect is important, not only for what has been remembered and forgotten, but also why it is so that some facts become remembered and others completely disappear from memory or are suppressed.
