Niniejsza rozprawa doktorska przyjmuje za cel przedstawienie struktury konceptualnej języka informatyki oraz ukazanie sposobów konceptualizacji tej dziedziny. Pierwszy rozdział przynosi rozważania dotyczące terminologii jako dziedziny nauki oraz przedstawione zostaje szerokie spektrum badań nad terminologią. Rozdział drugi podejmuje tematykę języków specjalistycznych. Celem rozdziału jest chronologiczny zarys rozwoju pojęcia język specjalistyczny od roku 1960. Rozdział trzeci pracy to ilustracja chronologicznego rozwoju Teorii Metafory Konceptualnej, która stanowi podstawowy punkt odniesienia dla rozważań empirycznych niniejszej dysertacji. Niezbędny do analizy empirycznej aparat pojęciowy omówiony w tym rozdziale i związany z teorią metafor obejmuje również amalgamat pojęciowy, przestrzenie mentalne oraz schematy wyobrażeniowe. W rozdziale czwartym omówiono aparat metodologiczny, wedle którego została poprowadzona analiza empiryczna. Refleksja metodologiczna zawarta w pracy opiera się na analitycznych narzędziach językoznawstwa kognitywnego. Piąty i zarazem ostatni rozdział ma charakter ściśle empiryczny i przedstawia analizę terminologii specjalistycznego języka informatyki, celem znalezienia potencjalnych metafor konceptualnych. Pracę podsumowują wnioski końcowe.

The present thesis is aimed at scrutinising the cloud computing terminology, so as to investigate whether conceptual metaphors may be regarded as an organisational framework of the specialist language of information technology. Chapter 1 offers a synthesis of available approaches to terminology and a bird’s eye view on accounts of theoretical terminological research. In Chapter 2, our attention is directed towards specialist languages. An attempt is made to provide a concise overview of research on the evolution of the notion of specialist language since the 1960s. Chapter 3 draws a broad background for the notion of conceptual metaphor which constitutes the central reference framework for this thesis. Within the contours of Chapter 3, also the notions of conceptual blending and image schemas are elaborated on to the extent that the scope of the analytical part allows it. In Chapter 4, we extensively discuss the methodological guidelines that governed the investigation outlined in the analytical part. Finally, in Chapter 5, we have analysed the corpus texts revolving loosely around the theme of cloud computing, chosen as the reference base for the detection and investigation of potential conceptual metaphors cast within the specialist field of information technology. Analysing the corpus texts we have formulated a thesis that conceptual metaphors act as an organisational framework of the specialist language of information technology. The dissertation ends with a conclusion of the entire study.
