Abstrakt
Wiosną 1940 roku ludność mieszkająca w pobliżu
granicy sowieckiej strefy okupacyjnej została zmuszona
do opuszczenia swoich siedlisk. Operacja
„oczyszczania” przygranicznego pasa o szerokości 800
metrów z ludzi i budynków (z wyłączeniem miast) miała
charakter przymusowy.
Około 13 tysięcy mieszkańców „strefy 800”, w tym
około cztery tysiące Polaków, przesiedlono na Wołyń,
gdzie ulokowano ich w domach po deportowanych na
Sybir polskich osadnikach albo w zagrodach
opuszczonych przez dawnych kolonistów niemieckich.
Na przełomie lat 1942/1943 banderowska frakcja
Organizacji Ukraińskich Nacjonalistów i jej ramię
zbrojne – Ukraińska Powstańcza Armia podjęły na
2
obszarze Wołynia szeroką akcję przeciwko Polakom.
Terror miał podłoże etniczne. Polacy znad Sanu, którzy
trafili do wschodniej części Wołynia, znaleźli się wśród
pierwszych ofiar ludobójstwa – zginęło ich co najmniej
288.
Pierwsi uchodźcy z Wołynia dotarli do dawnych
miejsc zamieszkania w kwietniu 1943 r., później ich
liczba szybko rosła. Traumatyczne doświadczenia i
nastroje panujące wśród reemigrantów miały istotny
wpływ na eskalację antagonizmów narodowościowych
na terenach między Leskiem a Przemyślem.
In the spring of 1940, the population living near the border of the Soviet occupation zone was forced to leave their habitats. The operation of "cleansing" the 800- meter wide border strip of people and buildings (excluding towns) was forced. About 13,000 inhabitants of "zone 800", including about 4000 Poles, were resettled to Volhynia, where they were placed in the houses of Polish settlers deported to Siberia or in households abandoned by former German colonists. At the turn of 1942/1943, the Bandera fraction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and its armed arm, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, took extensive action against Poles in Volhynia. Terror was ethnic in nature. Poles from the San River, who were sent to the eastern part of Volhynia, one of the first victims of genocide - at least 288 died. The first refugees from Volhynia arrived in April 1943, later their number grew rapidly. The traumatic experiences and moods among the resettlers had a significant impact on the escalation of national antagonisms in the areas between Lesko and Przemyśl.
