The article describes the conditions for granting, suspension and refusal of the status of the foreign compatriot under the laws of these countries. It draws a comparison between the catalogue of rights and freedoms of persons who are holders of the Pole's Card (also known as Polish Charter or Polish Card) and Foreign Ukrainians. Shortcomings of the legal regulation of the status of Foreign Ukrainians in Ukraine are revealed. Some aspects of the legal status of foreigners in the Republic of Poland and in Ukraine are described.
