Przez wiele lat związany był z rzeszowskim środowiskiem naukowym jako współtwórca studiów historycznych w Wyższej Szkole Pedagogicznej w Rzeszowie i Uniwersytecie Rzeszowskim, kierownik Zakładu Historii XIX Wieku oraz dyrektor Instytutu Historii w latach 1998–2002. Profesor zmarł 12 stycznia 2024 r., w dzień swoich 84. urodzin, pozostawiając liczne grono wychowanków kontynuujących jego historyczną pasję.Professor Marian Stolarczyk was a renowned scholar of 19th-century history, the history of Galicia, and urban history. For many years, he was associated with the academic community in Rzeszów as a co-founder of historical studies at the Higher Pedagogical School in Rzeszów and the University of Rzeszów. He served as the head of the Department of 19th-Century History and the director of the Institute of History from 1998 to 2002.
