Po zarysowaniu biograficznych związków Cieszkowskiego z Galicją zrekonstruowano wizję historycznego rozwoju chrześcijaństwa obecną w dziełach polskiego filozofa. Następnie skupiono się na uwypukleniu wynikających z niej nieuniknionego konfliktu mesjanizmu z doktryną katolicką oraz uznania protestantyzmu za ostateczną formę religii chrześcijańskiej. W dalszej części tekstu podjęto próbę interpretacji powyższych rozstrzygnięć w kontekście silnej zależności myśli Cieszkowskiego od heglizmu, a także wpływów, jakie wywarło na jej charakterystykę długotrwałe pozostawanie polskiego myśliciela w polu oddziaływania teologii protestanckiej.The article analyses the influence of Protestant philosophical and theological thought on the messianic historiosophy of August Cieszkowski. After outlining Cieszkowski’s biographical ties to Galicia, the study reconstructs the vision of the historical development of Christianity as articulated in the works of the Polish philosopher. Subsequently, it emphasizes the inevitable conflict between messianism and Catholic doctrine that arises from this vision, as well as the recognition of Protestantism as the ultimate form of the Christian religion.
