- PozycjaA Realism of Survival: Stefan Wyszyński and the Post-War Political Transformation of Poland (1945–1956)(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Ficek, RyszardThe above article analyzes the socio-political thought and pastoral ministry of Stefan Wyszyński in the context of the Polish state’s post-war political transformation. The author’s interpretation of the source materials is intended to present the endeavor of Wyszyński in the complicated process of post-war political changes taking place in Poland at that time. The exploration of the above research will be based on analyzing source texts by the historical method consisting of historical facts and their reinterpretation by the inductive-deductive approach. Therefore, the above article’s fundamental goal is to present the country’s post-war socio-political situation and the Catholic Church’s strategy in Poland, undertaken by Wyszyński. Presenting the significant influence of Stefan Wyszyński, who, on behalf of the Church in Poland, commenced to call on clergy to recognize and respect state authority, to cooperate in the reconstruction of the country, and to support all efforts to strengthen peace and mutual cooperation, will allow for a more comprehensive understanding of the complex relations between the Church and the communist state in the period of the post-war political transformation of Poland.
- PozycjaBohemian rulers of the Luxembourg dynasty and the Poděbrady family in the medieval Silesian and Kłodzko chronicles of canons regulars in Kłodzko, Wrocław and Żagań(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Chmielewska, KatarzynaThe author based on three monastery chronicles of the Late Middle Ages analyses the method of portraying the Bohemian kings from the Luxembourg and Poděbrady families and tries to point out factors which influenced this method of chronicle narration. The sources for this article are canons’ regulars chronicles in Żagań, Wrocław and Kłodzko: Catalogus abbatum Saganensium, Chronica abbatum Beatae Mariae Virginis in Arena i Cronica Monasterii Canonicorum Regularium in Glacz. The figures of rulers appear in the chronicles mainly in the context of their relationships with the particular monastery, especially when it comes to property matters: granting, rights and taxes. The other aspect in which the rulers are mentioned in the chronicles are the conflicts between secular and Church power. From the analysis of the texts a conclusion can be drawn that the picture of the rulers is diverse in different places where the chronicles were written and the attitude of the local society towards the particular ruler. It is best seen on the example of George of Poděbrady, a Hussite on the Bohemian throne. The chronicle of Żagań has a separate position – apart from the local issues, it presents the general information, unrelated to Church, including the ruling persons.

Mintz w Końskich(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Majcher-Ociesa, EdytaZawód agenta handlowego jest stosunkowo młody. Powstał on w połowie XIX w., a pod koniec tego stulecia jego przedstawiciele pełnili już ważne funkcje pośredników między przemysłem a handlem oraz między handlem hurtowym a detalicznym. Tekst rozpoczyna się od charakterystyki odmiennego stosunku Polaków i Żydów do handlu jako dziedziny gospodarki. Następnie autorka przedstawiła dzieje zawodu agenta handlowego (przedstawiciela handlowego, zastępcy) wraz z określeniem zalecanych dla tej profesji cech charakteru (i warunków fizycznych). Podstawą głównej części tekstu jest korespondencja krążąca między przedstawicielem handlowym Hilarym Mintzem, mającym stałe przedstawicielstwo w Katowicach, a właścicielami Fabryki Wyrobów Żelaznych „Neptun” I. Mintza w Końskich. Jest to barwna opowieść o warunkach pracy przedstawiciela handlowego, blaskach i cieniach tego zawodu.

Marki spożywcze, odmiennie niż marki towarów i przedmiotów trwałych, kształtowały swoją nazwę w oparciu o miejsce wytwarzania lub pochodzenia określonego produktu. Problemy z przechowywaniem i transportowaniem żywności powodowały, że produkty spożywcze wytwarzano w przeszłości przede wszystkim na potrzeby rynków lokalnych. Towary żywnościowe o wyjątkowych walorach smakowych sprowadzano z odległych regionów czy krajów. Ich odbiorcami w minionych wiekach byli przedstawiciele wyższych warstw społecznych. W drugiej części artykułu zwrócono uwagę na czynniki determinujące/określające kształtowanie się marek spożywczych na ziemiach polskich, tj. zmiany w technologii produkcji rolniczej, a także wzrost zapotrzebowania na przetworzoną żywność. Znaczący rozwój przemysłu spożywczego w Polsce przypadł na drugą połowę XX w. W praktyce do końca tego stulecia cechą charakterystyczną marek spożywczych była niska rozpoznawalność produktów i dominacja marek lokalnych.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie różnego rodzaju praktyk związanych z miłością, które wymykają się kategoryzacji w ramach podziału na małżeństwa aranżowane i małżeństwa z miłości; ukazanie strategii i taktyk codzienności praktykowanych przez moich współpracowników terenowych w kontekście przemian społeczno-kulturowych. Artykuł został przygotowany w oparciu o etnograficzne badania terenowe (techniką obserwacji uczestniczącej) w Delhi.
- PozycjaThe changing role of protocol in the 21st century’s diplomacy and international relations(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Hossó, NikolettaProtocol has long been considered to be the set of international courtesy rules primarily rooted from the French and Spanish royal courts of the 16–18th century. It has recently become a means of subconscious persuasion not only in diplomacy but also in the business and social world. These long-established rules facilitate not only the official representatives of nations but also for their people their co-existence in peace and harmony. It creates space, and sets the framework where offline and online interactions may take place. One of the most significant instruments that makes complex and delicate mechanisms of foreign policy work successfully. The year of 2020 brought many changes we all must face and react to. Protocol itself and protocol professionals are not exempt. Meetings, delegation programs, conferences and all official and social engagements have become unconventional to the end. The rise of online and hybrid events demands the skill of adaptability both in international relations and in protocol. The present article aims to briefly examine protocol by definitions and to show its complexity from a scientific perspective. Protocol as applied interdisciplinary science: an innovative approach initiated by a professional expert having elaborate practical experience in the field.

Conflict analysis and the common rights of the townsfolk of Rymanów in the latter half of the 19th century(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2021) Popek, JoachimThis article concentrates on an inquest held by the local commission in Sanok into the common rights claimed by the inhabitants of the town of Rymanów in the latter half of the 19th century. The negotiations, which commenced in 1859, sometimes took a heated turn. They were attended by much conflict and misunderstanding, equally between the manor and the town as among the townsfolk themselves. Conclusions drawn from the analysis of the archive source provided the basis on which to evaluate the activities of each of the parties – the town’s agents and the landlords – and, interestingly, those of the commissioners and other officials in the public administration, whose decisions exhibited bias. The townsfolk began the negotiation from a position of certainty and conviction of the legal force of Prince Czartoryski’s privilege granting the disputed common rights to them. The manor’s agent, on the other hand, took a bold position, which he consistently maintained. He disputed the authenticity of Czartoryski’s grant and even the fact that the Prince had ever held the manor. This approach ultimately proved successful. Attention is also drawn to the role played by local commissioners and the officials in the National Commission in Lviv, the latter making the most important decisions. The first phase demonstrates the commissioners’ influence on the original outcome. The rationale given for the second decision, on the other hand, shows the arbitrariness with which the Lviv Commission made its ruling, based on just one official document. Analysis of the proceedings highlights a more general trend prevalent in Galicia, first described in the example of Rymanów. This is a case in which two consecutive inquests in the same matter ultimately ended in a negative decision. In other words, the townsfolk’s claims were dismissed, and they were denied any common rights eligible for buyout or regulation.
