A study of the psychometric properties of 12-item World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 in adults living in Poland
(2019-11-13) Ćwirlej-Sozańka, Agnieszka; Sozański, Bernard; Kotarski, Hubert; Wilmowska-Pietruszyńska, Anna; Wiśniowska-Szurlej, Agnieszka
Background: Assessment of population disability is an important part of public health management. This article presents the psychometric properties of the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 12-item version (WHODAS 2.0 v 12) assessing adults living in Poland. Methods: The analysis comprised 584 adult urban residents. The study used WHODAS 2.0 v 12 and WHOQL-BREF. Basic sociodemographic and selected health assessment (pain, depressive moods) data were also collected. Results: A high internal consistency was found in the general population for the entire tool (α-Cronbach=0.90) and for individual domains (α-Cronbach in the range of 0.76 - 0.79). The similar situation was of dispersion groups (with pain, depressive moods). Satisfactory values of fit indices were obtained: CFI = 0.999, TLI = 0.999, and RMSEA = 0.004, SRMR = 0.043, p = 0.454. A good consistency was noted over time (correlation coefficient = 0.88). A high validity of the tool was found, including satisfactory discriminant validity of people with different health status and a good convergent validity in correlation with the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Conclusions: The results allow WHODAS 2.0 v 12 to be considered as a high-quality tool for measuring health status, functioning and disability of a general and particular population.

The needs of children questionnaire – Turkish cross-cultural adaptation
(Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszow, 2023-06) Kurt, Aylin; Dinç, Fatma
Introduction and aim. Determining the needs of children hospitalized for treatment is important in terms of identifying children who are more at risk and developing support systems for the child and the family. We aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish needs of children questionnaire (NCQ) and cross-culturally adapt it to the Turkish language. Material and methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted using a total of 160 children aged 5-16 years who were hospitalized between May 2021 and May 2022. The linguistic, content validity, construct validity, and internal consistency of NCQ were assessed. Results. NCQ had a four-factor structure consisting of two categories and explained 76% of the total variance. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.748, 0.799, 0.821, and 0.802 for the subscales of Caring, Information, Activities, and Relationships, respectively; and 0.893 for the total score. Inter-item correlations ranged from 0.149 to 0.702 (p<0.05). Conclusion. NCQ has a high level of validity and reliability for Turkish society. Turkish children aged 5 to 16 years were able to comprehend this instrument and express their needs and feelings about their hospitalization period.

Translation and psychometric evaluation of the Diabetes Education Questionnaire (DATE-Q) from English to Marathi – assessing reliability, validity, and cross-cultural equivalence
(Rzeszów University Press, 2025-06) Kulkarni, Sharvari J.; Lima de Melo Ghisi, Gabriela; Jaiswal, Varoon C.; Pawar, Pournima; Kharatmal, Deepali R.; Kangude, Mithali M.
Introduction and aim. The DiAbeTes Education Questionnaire (DATE-Q) is a self-administered tool created to evaluate disease-related knowledge and knowledge of five core components of rehabilitation: exercise, diet, psychological well-being, self-management and complications. The aim was to translate and adapt the DATE-Q into Marathi language and to evaluate the validity and reliability among diabetes and prediabetic patients. Material and methods. The study was carried out following standard stepwise Beaton and COSMIN guidelines to complete the translation and psychometric validation of the questionnaire. The pre-final version was evaluated in 30 individuals with diabetes or prediabetes. Test-retest reliability and internal consistency were assessed among 200 individuals with type 2 diabetes using Cronbach’s alpha and intraclass correlation coefficients respectively. Results. The original and translated versions did not conceptually differ from each other. DATE-Q has ten elements that were culturally adjusted. Based on suggestions from the expert group and the results of the pilot tests, cross-cultural modifications were made. The value of 0.935 for Cronbach’s alpha shows a very high level of internal consistency. For single and average measures, the intraclass correlation coefficient is 0.985 and 0.993 resp. which indicates an excellent level of reliability. Conclusion. The DiAbeTes Education Questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool for evaluating knowledge among Marathi-speaking patients.

Turkish cross-cultural adaptation of Pediatric Transition Experience Measure
(Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszow, 2024-06) Kurt, Aylin; Dinç, Fatma; Şan, Emine Güneş
Introduction and aim. The period immediately after leaving the hospital is known as the transition home, which presents a critical time for parents to take on all the responsibilities and care of a child without the support of the hospital environment. The purpose of this study is to culturally adapt the Pediatric Transition Experience Measure (P-TEM) instrument into Turkish and test its validity and reliability. Material and methods. We conducted this methodological study with parents of children who were discharged from the hospital between May 2021 and May 2022. We evaluated linguistic, content, construct, convergent validity, and internal consistency. Results. The P-TEM exhibited a two-factor structure and accounted for 65% of the overall variability. The internal consistency reliability for the transition preparation and transition support subdimensions was 0.779 and 0.793, respectively, while the total measure had a reliability of 0.831. The item-total correlations for the P-TEM ranged from 0.493 to 0.671. Parents who received the highest P-TEM scores experienced a 5.1-point improvement (95% confidence interval: 1.7 to 8.6) in their satisfaction with healthcare services, which was greater than that of parents who reported lower P-TEM scores. Conclusion. It is worth noting that the P-TEM has been validated and has high reliability in Türkiye.
