Pozycja Europejskie Dni Archeologii w Regionalnej Składnicy Zabytków Archeologicznych w Zgłobniu(Muzeum Okręgowe w Rzeszowie, 2023-12) Ligoda, JoannaIn 2023, the District Museum in Rzeszów joined the organization of the European Days of Archaeology for the first time. The idea is to promote archaeology and generate interest in the past through lectures, festivals, readings, and seminars. The Rzeszów museum prepared a lecture on the history of the manor-granary in the Regional Storehouse of Archaeological Materials in Zgłobień. They also presented the history of the Rzeszów Archaeological Centre and the history of research in the southeastern Poland. For younger guests, there was a demonstration of prehistoric pottery-making and an educational, large-format board game on the knightly theme. All these activities were well-received by the visitors.Pozycja Wiedza studentów archeologii z zakresu promocji i wykorzystania archeologii do rozwoju społecznego i gospodarczego(Muzeum Okręgowe w Rzeszowie; Instytut Archeologii UR; Fundacja Rzeszowskiego Ośrodka Archeologicznego; Oficyna Wydawnicza „Zimowit”, 2015) Kubiatowski, ZbigniewThe knowledge of archaeology students, concerning the promotion and ways of using archaeology in social and economic development, is minimal. Conducted surveys and anthropological interviews show that the students’ consciousness of archaeology utilitarianism, as well as knowledge in this field, is inadequate. The dominant approach is that the archaeology student stops having any interest in his/her discovery as soon as it is published in a scientific version and all the artefacts are given to the museum. Many answers show, that students still approach archaeology as in 19th century, which was only engaged in gaining remains. This situation has caused that archaeology in Poland is seen as a science only for science’s sake without contributing anything to social and economic development. To change the described situation, we need to widen the curricula with the subjects concerning promotion and marketing of archaeology.
