Edytorstwo i tekstologia dzieł literackich to dziedziny o ambiwalentnym statusie. Z jednej strony szereg tendencji obecnych we współczesnym życiu naukowym zdaje się obniżać ich prestiż (wystarczy wspomnieć o wymogach szybkiego awansu zawodowego czy też o powszechnie akceptowanej regule pluralizmu interpretacyjnego). Z drugiej strony stale realizowane są fundamentalne projekty edytorskie, rośnie też popularność polonistycznych studiów o tej specjalności oraz zapotrzebowanie rynku pracy na fachowców w tej dziedzinie. Najnowszy numer „Tematów i Kontekstów” poświęcony został właśnie edytorstwu i tekstologii, a także pracom dokumentującym polskie życie literackie w kraju i poza jego granicami. W intencji redaktorów ma to być zaproszenie do refleksji nad stanem polskiego edytorstwa oraz wyzwaniami przed nim stojącymi.

This article is a review of the book by Ryszard Koziołek entitled „Dobrze się myśli literature” (Literature is a good way of thinking). This publication is a collection of essays in which the literary expert considers the essence of contemporary reading. Koziołek pays special attention to emotions accompanying reading – bot the latest literature and the books considered to be classic ones. He indicates that literature is a special kind of continuity which can be analyzed through the prism of many fields of science, among others, economics or psychology.
Panorama badań aksjologicznych we współczesnym literaturoznawstwie polskim

The article is an attempt to present the achievements of the axiological research current in Polish literary studies. Several key issues relevant to axiological research understood in general, philosophical terms were mentioned to determine whether literary studies can exist without axiology or whether axiology absolutely needs literary studies, as well as the issue of the chronological beginning of axiological research within Polish literary studies. The deliberations undertaken lead to a closer characterisation of the three schools that put forward the most important proposals of Polish literary axiological reflection: the Lublin school, the Toruń school and the Warsaw school. And it is in relation to them that the most relevant hitherto achievements of axiological research in Polish literary studies have been outlined.

This publication contains polemic commentaries to the text by Beata Garlej „Panorama badań aksjologicznych we współczesnym literaturoznawstwie polskim” [Panorama of axiological research in contemporary Polish literary studies] („Tematy i Konteksty” 11(16)/2021). This publication has been divided into three parts: “Lublin school (KUL school)”, “Torun school” and “Warsaw school”. The lack of the authoress’s explanations of her understanding of the term ‘school’ allows to overestimate the significance of “Torun school” and underestimate the significance of “»Garden« school”.
The Science of Polish Verse (?). Rzecz o teorii notacji poetyckiej Sidneya Laniera w kontekście współczesnych kulturowych teorii literatury

The article presents the theoretical-literary concept developed by Sidney Lanier in the second half of the 19th century in America. The author presents the assumptions of the theory of poetic notation, primary and secondary rhythm, and the links between literature and the social landscape described by the American in “The Science of English Verse” and “The English Novel”. The considerations are included in the framework of reflection on the way of shaping contemporary cultural literary studies.

The article aims at a critical analysis of materials included in the eighth volume of “Epistolografia w dawnej Rzeczypospolitej” [Epistolography in the Former Republic of Poland]. It is a series edited by the academics from the Pedagogical University in Krakow: Piotr Borek and Marcel Olma. The eighth volume has been co-edited by Marcin Piątek. The monograph adopts a scientific approach to epistolography, analysing it from three perspectives, namely literary, linguistic and historical.
