Pozycja A Few Remarks on the Presence of Wood in Funeral Rites of the Lusatian Cultural in the Lublin Region(Fundacja Rzeszowskiego Ośrodka Archeologicznego, 2016) Kłosińska, Elżbieta MałgorzataIn the Early Iron Age, there were burial cemeteries (Bliskowice, Krupy, Lublin-Jakubowice Murowane) in the Lublin region where wooden chests/sarcophagi were built, probably as family graves. These cemeteries were arranged in order: rows of graves were running along the E-W axis, and each chest was located along the S-N axis. The dead, equipped with vessels and animal food, were burnt together with the chest. This custom refers to the burial rite performed by the population of the Western-Podolian Scythian culture. Previously, in the Bronze Age, population of the Lusatian culture used wood during funerary rites, but to a lesser extent (palisades and fences).Pozycja The early Bronze Age feature from Wilczyce, site 10, Sandomierz district – An interpretation of its functioning in light of multidimensional analysis(the Authors, 2020) Jarosz, Paweł; Boroń, Tomasz; Witkowska, Barbara; Winiarska-Kabacińska, Małgorzata; Różańska-Tuta, Zuzanna; Skrzyński, Grzegorz; Osypińska, Marta; Kerneder-Gubała, Katarzyna; Szczepanek, Anita; Sołodko, Anna; Włodarczak, PiotrThe aim of this paper is to present the multidimensional characteristics of the feature number 4 at the site in Wilczyce located on the Sandomierz Upland. During exploration of the pit rich flint material, fragments of pottery vessels and animal bones were found and just above the bottom a “deposit” involved a human skull of the young female, two cattle mandibles, a sheep/goat tibia and astragalus, a damaged cattle scapula and radius, and a polishing stone were deposited. The C14 date obtained from the tooth from the cattle jaw was 3790 ± 35 BP. Based on the shape and the size of discovered feature it is possible to classify it as a typical storage pit but presence of “deposit” enable to postulate a ritual character of assemblage that reflect some kind of burial practices of the Mierzanowice culture. Rituals in the form of interring the dead or parts of their bodies can be found also in the Unietice culture so such features may indicate the emergence of a certain supra- -regional and cross-cultural trend in the early Bronze Age.Pozycja Wczesnośredniowieczne cmentarzysko kurhanowe w Międzygórzu, pow. Opatów, woj. świętokrzyskie (Międzygórz, stan. 44). Wyniki badań wykopaliskowych w latach 2006–2009(Muzeum Okręgowe w Rzeszowie, 2023-12) Florek, MarekThe article discusses the results of excavations carried out in 2006–2009 at the Early Medieval barrow cemetery in Międzygórz. During the excavations, 5 burial mounds were identified. In all of them, cremation burials were found. In four cases, the burned remains of the deceased were scattered directly on the surface of the mounds or originally deposited in some organic containers, and in one example they were placed in a pottery urn placed on the top of the mound. There were also remains that could be associated with funeral ceremonies held at the cemetery and in honour of the dead. The cemetery should be dated to the 8 th –9 th century.
