Pozycja Between oblivion and exclusive memory. The past of the Jews in the collective memory of the inhabitants of Rzeszow(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022) Malicki, KrzysztofThis monograph presents the issue of the collective memory of contemporary inhabitants of Rzeszow of the Jews living in the city until 1945. Before the outbreak of the war in 1939 the Jews constituted approximately 1/3 of the 40 thousands of residents of Rzeszow. More than 95% of them were killed in the Holocaust. The survivors left the city soon after the war and today there is not even a small community of that nationality. Almost all the places connected with the Jews (synagogues and cemeteries) were devastated and destroyed. Even though some of them were rebuilt, they have never returned to their functions. After the war, Rzeszow experienced huge socio-spatial changes. This prewar county town was transformed into one of the largest cities in the country, the capital of the province and the regional metropolis with 200 thousands residents in 2022. Postwar socio-demographic processes influenced the creation of a new urban organism where the awareness of the city inhabitants of the unique history is very low. The main objective of the research presented in this work is to diagnose the level of knowledge of the inhabitants of Rzeszow on the history of Jews in the local perspective. Another important goal is practical support for all activities that aim to build the memory of the city's past and its former inhabitants. The history of the Jews is an integral part of the history of Rzeszow. Including this knowledge in the local collective memory can only help foster proactive attitude and involvement in the dynamically developing city.Pozycja DDR und Erinnerungsstrategien ostdeutscher Autoren und Autorinnen in literarischen Texten nach 1990(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2017) Jaśkiewicz, GrzegorzThe paper presents memory strategies of East German authors in literary texts after 1990. It involves mainly young authors and texts with the autobiographical background. Is addresses, in particular, the question of Ostalgie, which was used in the 1990s to give the impression that the GDR would be remembered nostalgically. The transfiguration of the image is a reminder of the possible strategies and constitutes part of the collective memory. A critical confrontation with the German Democratic Republic is missing.Pozycja Kategoria pamięci zbiorowej w urbanonimii(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2022-12) Myszka, AgnieszkaPamięć zbiorowa stanowi narzędzie poznania, a zarazem pełni rolę kulturotwórczą. Pozycja Powstawanie lokalnych kultów maryjnych i świętych patronów na Rusi Czerwonej po najazdach tatarskich jako dyskurs religijny w Rzeczypospolitej epoki nowożytnej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2014) Gliwa, AndrzejFrom the late Middle Ages to the end of the 17th century the collective memory of the population in the south-eastern territories of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was shaped by the traumatic events associated with the Tatar invasions. An important part of that collective memory in this part of the Polish-Lithuanian state was religious discourse characterized by “the long term”, which was closely intertwined with the contemporary philosophy of history and the idea of providentialism. Durability and stability of this discourse in the historical and social perspective was a consequence of the cultural and religious alienation of the Tatars among the settled Christian communities and their of use of asymmetric warfare. Religious discourse manifested itself on the one hand in the rapidly growing Marian devotion, which resulted from the belief in the care of the Virgin Mary becoming over time more and more common in social consciousness, and on the other hand in the emergence of the cults of patron saints whose intercession was supposed to lead to supernatural interventions in defence of the faithful. In this way, religious discourse fulfilled a very important social role by strengthening psychological adaptation mechanisms, which played a key role in the communities affected by violence, mass terror and fear.Pozycja The Individual – the Space – the Memory: an Ethnological Study of Territorial Identification of the Relocated Community of Maniowy Village(Fundacja Rzeszowskiego Ośrodka Archeologicznego, 2011) Godyń, MariaThe paper summarizes the results of ethnological research in the village of Maniowy and Kluszkowce on the the phenomenon of the memory of a place lost through the construction of the Czorsztyn–Niedzica–Sromowce Wyżne Reservoir Complex. The attitude of the displaced community toward its lost territory and the process of its cultural and territorial identity development through remembrance narratives and collective memory are analysed. The article also presents the history of the village flooding due to dam construction and the emerging material forms of the community’s adaptation to the newly settled area.
