Pozycja Biograficzne puzzle. Czytając „Emigracje intymne” Agnieszki Nęckiej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2013) Luboń, ArkadiuszThe article discusses the role the dissertation entitled "Intimate Emigrations. On the contemporary Polish biographic narrations" by Agnieszka Nęcka plays in the newest literary research on the issue of postmodernism in novel reconstructions of emigrant authors identities. The research proposed by Nęcka is composed by eight critical sketches on the prose of Zygmunt Haupt, Zbigniew Kruszyński, Manuela Gretkowska, Artur Leczycki, and referred to in comparative contexts of the quasi-autobiographic works by Mikołaj Łoziński, Tomasz Piątek, Magdalena Tulli and Michał Witkowski. These are not merely the profiles of the writers whose works still require a more profound reflection, but also the issue presented in the meaningful title – "Intimate Emigrations" – which permits multi-faceted and varied cultural contexts for the interpretation of their writings. From a narrower perspective, Nęcka’s dissertation constitutes a case study of a prose writer, who – in accordance with the rule of self-placement in the work – creates autobiographies based on the redefinition of the traditional patterns applied as a point of reference for the description of various models of “an exile’s” identity. From a wider perspective, the cases offered in the "Intimate Emigrations" illustrate the internal cultural mechanisms of denial and transformation of modernism, as well as indicate the difficulty in rejecting the heritage, which continues to be present in the contemporary works of postmodernist writers. Wyłania obraz biografii z wielką historią i polityką w tle, udatnie łączącej życie prywatne i publiczne. In the first part the author draws the readers’ attention to the fact that certain basic problems concerning the use of the very notion stem from different ways of understanding the term “autobiographical.” The second part of the article outlines certain important approaches to autobiographical novel, predominantly in the Polish literary studies. In this area the most common are biographical methods and various forms of autobiographical treaty. Every single methodological choice entails a certain loss, since autobiographical novel offers several mutually exclusive interpretations. However, there are numerous questions which are rarely posed nowadays, and which concern receptive and medial dimension of the notion in which an autobiographical novel could exist as an “interpretation figure”. These questions are posed in the final part of the work.Pozycja Strony życia – o „Dworcu Gdańskim. O zesłańczych doświadczeniach w prozie Danuty Ireny Bieńkowskiej(Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego, 2011) Paliwoda, AgataThe aim of this article is to discuss two short novels selected from a few writings by Danuta Irena Bieńkowska collected in the volume “Między brzegami” (London 1978) published after her death. The writer was born in Toruń (1927). After the Second World War she lived in England, and, since 1955, in Canada. The novels contain a variety of quasi-diary (“Droga do Rosji: fragment z dziennika”) and short-prose (“Północ i południe: szkice z Rosji”) references to her experiences gained during the period of deportation to the labor camps in the Komi Republic and Uzbekistan. The article provides an interpretation of the mentioned works as a personal document in the context of gulag literature (by, among others, Beata Obertyńska, Barbara Skarga, Gustaw Herling-Grudziński, Anatol Krakowiecki, Jerzy Krzysztoń) and thus it presents the writer’s contribution to the literature undertaking the task of „naming the unnamable”.Pozycja Wielowymiarowość rozmowy w twórczości artystek sztuk wizualnych w Polsce(Wydział Sztuki UR, 2018-12) Sulikowska-Dejena, AgataThe article discusses various aspects of conversation present in the work of many contemporary Polish female visual artists. A conversation may perform various roles and take place on different planes; it can be the essence of a project, its element or a major tool necessary to bring it about. Words make up a coherent tale or, taken out of context, condense the tale in but a few letters. The common element of the artworks presented in this article is their very personal dimension. Female artists talk about things extremely subjective and private, as they believe that their experience is universal, shared by thousands of women, and it only takes creating an appropriate plane in order to start talking. The space which helps here is often an art gallery: it is there that the tales of the artists are heard. This article presents the works of female artists in which dialogue has played a leading role.
