The subject of this paper is the first of the two re-interpretations of the myth of Faust by Jerzy Grotowski – the performance of “Faust” by J.W. Goethe in the Polish Theatre in Poznań (1960), in which Grotowski enters into polemics with Goethe’s romantic and metaphysical vision. The spectacle shows Grotowski’s early aesthetics called as “farce-mystery”, displaying his fascination with ritual as a performative secular alternative to religious experience. The myth of Faust shows his creative confrontation with the archetype, which aims to liberate the spiritual energy beyond religion and myth to renew the community’s sense of the sacred. The author sets out to prove that the story of Faust is of crucial significance to Grotowski as an incarnation of myth that helps him to cope with the trauma of death and transgress the limits of human condition, which reveals his romantic sensibility.
Synkretyczny charakter pojęcia wyobraźni poetyckiej i jej odmiany

Celem artykułu sytuującego się w kręgu badań literaturoznawczych jest próba ukazania pojęcia wyobraźni poetyckiej jako zjawiska synkretycznego i głęboko zakotwiczonego w tradycji poetyckiej. Autorka traktuje poezję jako sztukę znaczeń i jako sposób werbalizacji świata obiektywnego lub świata, w którym dominuje fantazja i wyobraźnia. Wyobraźnia jest pojęciem bardzo złożonym, kryjącym wiele często odrębnych treści, co autorka artykułu starała się pokazać na przykładzie twórczości K.I. Gałczyńskiego, jednego z najznakomitszych kreatorów wyobraźni poetyckiej.
The Reception of Antiquity in “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Brontë

The following paper concentrates on the reception of antiquity in the novel by Emily Brontë Wuthering Heights. The primary concept of the analysis is to exploit such critical tools as: Reader-Response Criticism, dialogics and transtextuality. In this context one can notice such ancient references as: the structure of a labyrinth (prefiguration), the archetype of Hercules, Apollo and gods, as well as the reference to learning ancient languages (revocation). All the references to antiquity are used in the novel in question not only as ornaments, but mainly as the tools to comment on, among others, the social situation in Victorian England.
Лингвокультурная интепретация одесских мифологем в киноповести Эфраима Севелы Одесса-мама

This article dwells upon linguacultural specificity of Odessa mythologems. They function as sample and initial basis for creating a mythological portrayal of Odessa, also of personages, statements, situations in the film story Odessa-mama by Efraim Sevela (1971–1988), that was based on I. Babel’s Odessa stories. In the text under analysis fixed Odessa mythologems form a storyline, that has conceptual and precedential meaning.
