Forensic aspects of salbutamol overdose – doping, abuse, and suicide

Introduction and aim. Salbutamol is a popular drug used in respiratory diseases. With the increasing prevalence of the use of this substance for therapeutic purposes and its availability on the market, the frequency of its use for other purposes has also risen due to its effects outside the respiratory system. The aim of the study was to investigate the medico-legal aspects of salbutamol. Material and methods. Medical literature databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar were searched. The search was carried out in accordance with the specified purpose of the keyword research using Boolean operators. Analysis of the literature. In sports, the use of salbutamol is strictly regulated by anti-doping regulations. Recreational substance abuse and accidental overdoses, mainly among children and the elderly, are also important. Rare cases of suicide attempts associated with the use of salbutamol have also been reported. Conclusion. Salbutamol overdoses are usually not life threatening. However, one should remember about the possibility of accidental overdose, especially among the elderly and children taking the drug chronically. Currently, the use of salbutamol for recreational purposes is rare. In sports, the status of salbutamol use, especially among athletes who do not require its use for therapeutic reasons, is still a controversial issue.

Molestowanie seksualne dzieci jest problemem współczenego świata. Szczególne znaczenie ma fakt ujawnienia wykorzystania seksualnego. Główną formą pomocy jest dostarczenie wsparcia i odpowiednich śródków zaradczych dla wykorzystanego dziecka. Molestowanie seksualne jest z reguły taką formą przestępczości, która mam miejsce bez udziału świadków i często pozostaje niewykryte. Dzieci bardzo często twierdzą, iż nie ujawniają tego faktu z powodu licznych obaw. Czują się zagrożone konsekwencjami dla siebie i innych. Dzieci wykorzystywane seksualnie czują się częściowo odpowiedzialne za to co się zdarzyło. Są bardzo często niepwene co do tego, czy molestowanie miało miejsce lub też nie wiedzą, gdzie zwrócić się z prośbą o pomoc. Nie ma jednego śladu czy znaku molestowania seksualnego dziecka. Ujawnienie wykorzystania seksualnego jest możliwe wtedy, gdy opiekunowie obserwują pośrednie niewerbalne wskazówki lub cały kotekst sygnałów i zwrotów, które mogą sugerować zaistnienie molestowania seksualnego.

Current demographic trends indicate that we will live in an increasingly aging society, with all its conditions including changes taking place in daily life. Contemporary civilization promotes the cult of youth, vitality and physical strength. Numerous manifestations of ageism are an expression of fear, fears of the consequences of the natural process of aging and old age. Elder people experience not only health problems, but more and more often loneliness, marginalization, violence, neglect and abuse, both from the closest family and aid institutions. The ongoing demographic changes require special attention to the problem of violence against elder people. The prevention of violence against elder people is particularly important in the event of increasing population aging. The purpose of the article is to present forms of violence towards seniors, a determination of the scale of this phenomenon, motives and methods of counteracting this negative behaviour in the light of the literature on the subject. It is necessary to undertake a wide range of activities to change the image of elder people and the phenomenon of old age and also draw attention to the problem of violence against elder people in the public forum.
